Carlisle's a bit busy and it looks as if the whole train will have to be moved as the diverted GR Inverness to the Cross is due into Platform 3 at 1303. There are also trains due into P1 at 1307 and P4 at 1309 and P3 is in use before the CCE is due back in. Don't know how to read that. there's the usual draw forward to Signal CE 335 missing from the LE move. The path looks like a 'tow out'.

Heard a rumour - please don't shoot the messenger if it's duff info - that this trip may not be for the pure steam enthusiast.

Ringing the changes then. At least WC is trying to find a way of making it work. Do we assume that Leander is out of gauge southbound on the coast route, as Galatea?

I think it a reasonable assumption that if one 5XP wont fit, then another built to the same design is also not going to fit.

In fact Al, quite the opposite is true. Nothing changes which means customers continue to routinely suffer a lottery as to what will happen on the day.

About 5 minutes late at oxenholme. Diesel on the back but didn't spoil the show. Maybe just taking its own weight or a little more.

Under overcast skies, LMS 5XP Class 4-6-0 No. 45690 'Leander' puts on a fine display as it works north with the last of the 'Cumbrian Mountain Expresses' for this year

With Autumn colours beginning to show and with the oil burner hanging on for dear life, LMS 5XP Class 4-6-0 No. 45690 'Leander' charges south with the final 'Cumbrian Mountain Express'

I think it is safe to say that Leander is the Carnforth workhorse at the moment. Does anyone know if Galatea has gone into winter maintenance.
