Unmodified Bulleid Pacifics in original condition have electric lighting fitted as
Follows, 6 headcode lights on the front, light in the lubricator compartment
beneath the smokebox. Light over the slidbars and over each driving wheel.
Light over the injector overflow, over the steam reverser, behind the water gauges and in the cab roof.
On the tender, light above the shovelling plate, 6 headcode lights on the
rear of the tender with a hooded coupling and uncoupling light. All these are
driven from the Stones turbo generator under the drivers side of the cab.
21C123 has all these in place and working, although most footplate crews
appear to like stumbing around in the dark!

07:40 at Junction 11 on the M1 850 on the back of Heanor trailers heading north.

What a very sad sight. Lets hope she comes back soon.

A wonderful memory this year on 16th May on Cathedrals when she blew her whistle the length of a eurostar after being given priority on the way back into London. B***DY Awesome!

Yep indeed, 850 should arrive at the NRM today sometime in readiness for unloading either later today or tomorrow.

It would seem logical for her to go to MHR as its only up the road from Eastleigh.

If only life was that simple. Unfortunately the politics come into play. After comments made by one of the top guys at the ERPS earlier in the year I don't think a visit to the MHR is on the cards!

    Hi

In my eyes the preservation movement is being spoiled by too many silly comments where people dont think what they are saying.

Whilst not party to MHR or ERPS "politics" it is a shame for all.

OK . Will leave it at that as I dont want to start any mud flinging that might be lurking near by

    Enough said.

it does appear she will be out for sometime if her support coach will be behind Tornado.

Hope not, expecially after the money and effort ploughed into her, not to mention the man hours!

    Hi

Taking the ERPS thing as an example, if i am part of a society (i am part if 2) i would never say anything that would do anything other than to create something good when it comes to speaking to other railways etc. You have to think what you say when your involved with societies etc especially when your high up as it all comes back to one thing! The project your supporting and its future in this day and age!

However, this forum isn't the preservation movement, just a forum that anyone can register with whether or not they are the most savvier poster. Those who are more aware should be able to see and simply ignore silly comments, or perhaps even educate the posters without having to resort to any form of backbiting (defn: the slandering of an absent party).

Unfortunately I don't think it's quite that black and white! Politics seem to rear their ugly head at every railway in some form or other. Clearly some seem to have more publicity around them. Just look at the Bluebell extension or Brocklebank Line (thinking of 2 examples off the top of my head).....lots of politics and polarised views, dig deep enough at any line and you'll find them.

Either way, let's just hope the issues around 850 (political or not!) are resolved.

O yes totally agreed where are not part of the movement we are here for discussion. Yes those of us should and do know better about silly comments and most do try to educate that ones who dont know.
Yes we all want 850 back on the mainline its such a wonderful loco, but its a know fact as you say about politics everyone has their own opinion and some like to let theirs be known to everyone under the sun!

lets just hope 850 makes a speedy recovery do we have anymore information yet?

Was in the NRM this morning and 850 was in the Great Hall. Very sad to see it there in the circumstances.
