Well people also told us that it would happen instead at the end of season gala this year, and the timetable shows it hasn't... I'm not bothered by it being removed for a year, although a bit pissed that it was announced as an Autumn Steam Gala and then changed as it means I booked time off work for an even that isn't really worth spending several days at, so am "over it". Just don't want possibly my favourite part of my favourite railway gala falling by the way side.

Well it isn't going to fall by the way side, as it has already been announced that the ASG and overnight running will return in 2017. I'm not really sure how much more in the way of confirmation people could expect? Further, in response to your "people also told us it would happen at the end of season gala" statement, I have seen no official statement from the SVR which could even be said to imply as such. I understand that overnight running was looked into and considered for the November event, but the SVR has never made a statement confirming it's inclusion.

Any idea what's doing the diesel turn next Saturday? Up to see the Parentals and just wonder if there's an EE 8 cylinder power unit in action

I saw a Facebook photo with a description, reportedly now removed. I know no more.

    Under investigation, a shunting incident.
LMS coach now at Bewdley C&W for repair (likely to out for some time), the other coach has been repaired (a mark 1 and escaped most of the damage).

Not quite so bad as it sounds.Other scheduled maintenance is being brought forward so time out of service not directly related to the incident

But I understand it might be close to the beginning of December when it might be back, and definitely need the LMS set as a 9 for Santas.

Booked on The SVR Ltd for Sunday lunch, we took my brother and his wife for his birthday, and I had promised them a ride in 1930s GWR dining coach, which is what's advertised. A bit disappointed that it turned out we were in a Mk1, I might as well have booked on The Countryman or gone elsewhere, had waited for this as his Birthday was in June and other dates were booked up until now. I realise things have to be taken out of service for repairs, but there were 1 1/2 empty GWR dining coaches next to us! Food and service superb though.

The Mk1 FO has been in the Limted set for about the last 10 years, I must admit though that perhaps the advertising could be better worded as looking at the dining leaflet it does give the impression that the whole train is Great Western 30's stock which is not the case.
That is the line from the leaflet, I think it could be re-worded to avoid situations such as yours.
Nice to hear the service and food were up to expectations though.

There is a GWR third diner at Bewdley undergoing work so in the next year or so we might see the mark 1 replaced.

650 the brake open is not generally used for dinning as the corridor is very narrow.

OK thanks - but one of the 2 GWR Restaurant 3rds in the train was empty though - either 9653 or 9627? (9654 undergoing work at Bewdley?), so is the FO filled first due to ops/catering staff preference or the order of vehicles in the set - (maybe dictated by gangway adapters?...)
