Thanks for advise guys. We ended up going today as a day trip. Took the advise and parked at Churston, very enjoyable day, good run, pleasant river cruise and a nice afternoon stop off at Greenway house.

Any news on what will be in action during next week? Trying to work out whether to make a trio down or not.

A GW 45xx on a branch line to the sea, in the West Country in the Summer, is there anything more quintessentially British than this? :)

Due to the poor condition of platform 2 at Goodrington and the sharpness of the point nearest Paignton the loop at Goordrington very rarely sees passenger services. The loop can still be used for LE movements and shunting if the movement requires to pass the service train.

    Good evening

I have realised im back down this sunday and wondered if 7820 will be doing the service?

I really want to get a pic of her before she leaves :)

Also would she be running on the Tuesday the 23rd of august too?

Also will 75014 be out on test the sunday or the Tuesday?

    Sorry for all the questions.

Cant do the Monday in between as I am photographing a wedding.

    Many Thanks

    Martyn

7820 is the service engine on sunday.

75014 will be out and about on sunday, and then double heading trains mon-thurs. All being well she will be working trains solo on Saturday 27th on the 2 train timetable service for Dartmouth Regatta.

Is there any update on which locos are working over the regatta weekend ?

Hoping to visit Saturday if 75014 has behaved herself.

Had my first ever ride on the DSR this week and have to say I rather enjoyed it. The line is a good length between two interesting destinations and has some challenging gradients in both directions. Nice locos, great scenery and no linear scrapyard at every location. All in all very slick and professional. We did the river cruise as well which was great (when we could persuade the Maunsell juniors to leave the crabbing at the harbour out). However after all that the only downside was grotty rolling stock. We rode in a knackered MK1 SK with no doors between the compartment and corridor, painted partitions, missing light bulbs and flaking ceilings. The seats were poor in shape and support and the moquette was stapled roughly to the base. With such fantastic locos, infrastructure, location, huge number of visitors and a location second to none I really cannot see why the rolling stock is nothing more than a motley collection of grubby ex-DMU cars and battered MK 1s that even to the casual eye are complete nails?

I have to say that sadly except for the Devon belle car the T & D stock is some of the worst I have experienced
