It has been stated a number of times that the team working on 84030 (78059) will move on to 80100 once the former is complete.

    Hi,
I was just wondering whether someone can help me out regarding a question i had to a future visit to the bluebell railway.
On Sunday 4th September i'm paying a visit to the railway and was wondering what the best way was to see all the steam locomotives i need on the line would be.
The Locos i need are the following, i know there are more locos than i will mention below but the ones below are new locos that i haven't seen yet.
    27, 65, 96, 178, 263, 323, 488, 592, 672, 847, 928, 1618, 1638, 32424, 34059, 58850, 73082, 75027, 80064, 80100, 80151, 84030, 92240, 21c123 & B473.

many thanks if anyone can help

Locos do tend to move about, even those out of traffic, and some may be in places where they are not necessarily publicly visible. Some are also partially or completely dismantled on account of overhauls.

That said, as far as I am aware, the current locations are as follows - obviously this is not set in stone.

    27, 84030
Currently dismantled and undergoing overhaul. The frames and wheels of each loco can be seen from the viewing area at the south end of the running shed.

    65
Under overhaul at the north end of the main workshop. Is visible if the roller doors on the workshop are open (which they generally are during the summer), but otherwise not on public view.

    928
Under overhaul - the frames are in the loco yard and easily visible from the viewing area at the south end of the shed; the boiler is in the workshop.

    80151
Under overhaul - the frames and boiler are in the workshop, so visible if the doors are open. The tanks were sitting on a wagon in the Sheffield Park dock siding last time I looked, but could easily have been moved since then.

    34059
The locomotive except boiler and tender are in the locomotive shed and easily visible; the boiler is off site under repair.

    96, 178, 488, 1618, 80064, 92240, B473
In the main running shed and easily visible

    672, 1638, 21c123, 80100
In the dock siding on the west side of Sheffield Park; easily visible from platform 2.

    32424
Under construction in Atlantic House. Almost certainly not publicly visible except on project open days and galas.

    58850, 75029
    At Horsted Keynes I think

    263, 323, 592, 847, 73082
In traffic, so could be anywhere about the line. Some in traffic locos may be undergoing washout, in which case they would be at the far south end of the loco yard and only visible at a distance, but otherwise these should all be easy to see.

Well, that would be worth going to anyway;) But I suspect it is your next good opportunity to see 32424 up close, and in addition would probably make 27 and 84030 a bit easier as well; plus any of the in-traffic locos on the washout pit in early September are likely to be back easily on view by late October.

Oops  I just copied YRM's list. He'll have to go about 250 miles north of Horsted to see '29!

If he goes 250 miles north of Horsted he'll still not see it! It's about another 50 miles to Grosmont where 75029 is.

It's all a long way once you get north of Hurst Green Junction!

    Tom,
When is your eyesight test for firing? :) sorry! 34059 is in the shed with its tender, as you say the boiler is away at the South Devon Railway having a new inner firebox fitted.
21C123 is no longer in the western bay but back in the shed and visable. 80100 is languishing at the back of the carriage shed not visable to the public. 80064 is also in the
western bay. Otherwise as you have listed.
    Roger.

 I'd forgotten the Vale had moved - I did have a quick squiz at John Sandys' photo stream to see if he had a clear recent view of what was in the west side dock, but all his photos just seemed to show Fenchurch and 1638 and not show what was behind. Still, have to make it a bit difficult for YRM to find them all! ;)

And just for completeness, since YRM's list missed a few, 541 is in traffic (surprised @V class spotted the little red engine but missed that one!); 55 and 9017 are in the engine shed; Sharpthorn and the USA tank are at Horsted Keynes; and the Howard loco is at Horsted, but under a tarpaulin so harder to see. The orange gronk is normally somewhere round SP and Skippy is at HK normally outside the C&W workshop. I think that's all of them!

The reason why i missed 541, 55 and 9017 off that list was because i have already seen them.
Only the locos mentioned is because those locos they are new to me and i haven't seen them thats why.

Not likely. It has already paid a visit in 2008 and three galas for the same engine on three different lines in three weekends would be very unusual. (My own thoughts - not an authoritative statement, but in this instance, I'd be surprised if I'm wrong!)
