Have to agree. Whilst trying to work times for a trip next weekend I found a third party site best for bus times.

Do you happen to know what's running between now (27th Juky) and next Wednesday (3rd August) - we're staying down in the south west for a week.

    Hi

I am due down on the wednesday, which way around are 5542 and 7820 facing and which one would be likely to be the first train up to kingswear?

Also how likely will 75014 be on test running between he 3rd and the 13th of August?

    Many thanks

    MARTYN

7820 facing sbox to PGN & 5542 facing sbox to KWR. 7820 should be on the 10:00 service from PGN.

As for 75014, we would like to have her out by mid august on test runs, but at the moment i cant make any promises. Best bet is to keep an eye on here and see what happens.

Many Thanks for the response, very happy dinmore is back down as she was not running last year.

5542 is an added bonus too, be nice when 4555 is back out.

I shall keep an eye out for news on 75014.

    Many Thanks

Slight change of plan, 7827 is out instead of 7820 from tomorrow. 5542 still on the 10 45 service from PGN.

No, just a juggle around with planned maintenance and boiler washouts.

The Torbay Steam Fair takes place this week-end. It is 100 yards. or thereabouts froom Churston Station. Travellers arriving in Paignton can book on the Dartmouth line to Churston or of course there is an excellent bus service from Newton Abbot, Torquay and Paignton. (Route 12).

    Hi again

With the change in locos from originally planned, is either of the manors due back out this week?

Had a splendid day with 5542 last Thursday, she has proven she copes quite well on full rake up goodrington and greenway.

Also any news or updates on the testing for 75014 also?

    Many Thanks

    Martyn

    Martyn,

7820 & 7827 are being washed out on Wednesday, so it isn't planned for either of them to be running this week. If we have a failure, 7827 will be put into service.

yes, 5542 seems to quite well suited here, we've forgotten how much fun prairies are!

75014 is booked to have her final insurance steam test next Tuesday morning, so she will be out and about from sometime next Monday.

    Hope this helps

If you drive from churston or upper ferry at Dartmouth there is parking by the houses up the hill after 3 for free then you have a 20 minute walk to Brittania crossing

Municipal car parks are close by at Paignton but Churston has limited station parking and free parking on nearby roads. Churston is my suggestion if you intend to ride the train. You can do a round trip - depends how much time you have whether that could include the boats.
For viewing then there are places where you can park between Paignton and Churston similarly a couple of places between Churston and Greenway. Avoid any part of Kingwear at this time of year.

7820 out on the service train, with 7827 doing a light engine run at some point in the afternoon from churston back to Paignton after some repairs. 75014 will also be complete outside churston warming for a steam test monday, prior to her official insurance boiler exam on the Tuesday.

As for parking, what the guys above said, avoid Kingswear!

You could off course park at Totnes, do a river cruise down to kingswear. Return steam train to Paignton and river cruise to Totnes, or bus back to Totnes. Best check our website for timings, as the River Dart is Tidal, sailings change times daily.
