Interesting line up of geriatric paraffin cans, just need a touch of sunshine to make it another great weekend on the ELR.

I think they rather blew it when they held the all Deltic weekend a bit back, I agree it would have been good to have one (or two - see picture below!). P1050152.JPG

Interestingly, whilst the ELR diesel group (and timetable) are advertising the event as 8/9/10 July, the ELR web site is saying 15/16/17 July. I guess the former is correct but I would expect he ELR to have corrected this if it's been wrong for a while. Unless it has been moved back a week at short notice?

Weather doesn't appear to have read the script, Met Office saying some rain on all 3 days, lot for Saturday, looks like the riding day this year.

Had a nice couple of hours at Irwell Vale this afternoon after shopping.
The rain held off and the sun put in a brief appearance.
56006 was on the 'Peak's roster for some reason. For anyone going over the weekend, Saturday's forecast is dire! Sunday, a little better with sun and showers.
A heads up for anyone making for Irwell Vale on Sunday, there are roadworks and I saw a sign saying the road would be closed from 0800 to 1600. Not sure if there is another way in, so beware.

Yes I am an active volunteer
There are, just not by road, so I'd recommend wellies or a good set of boots and walking in, either from Ewood Bridge, Helmshore or Stubbins

A few of my shots from Friday, as said "full" dull for the morning, lucky if you got the sun in the afternoon. A variety of the day's loco's. P1010165.JPG P1010167.JPG P1010169.JPG P1010172.JPG P1010175.JPG P1010177.JPG P1010187.JPG P1010190.JPG

A bit late for the thanks to all who made this weekend what I regard as the premier diesel event of the year, look forward to the Autumn event.
A selection of shots from Sunday, rain effectively stopped play for me late in the afternoon, I have included the Hydraulics in a down pour! P1010198.JPG P1010202.JPG P1010206.JPG P1010207.JPG P1010210.JPG P1010212.JPG P1010220.JPG P1010221.JPG
