    Hi all

    A Sunday morning update-

The tedious job of drilling fishplate holes on the extension is now all but complete. A few more rails to replace and a small amount of ballasting to do and the track work is almost complete (mini champagne moment...)

On Monday work starts on the first occupation crossing and the plan is to systematically work through each of them (there are 3 currently and one extra to install) so that they meet the required standard.

We have a fencing contractor ready to commence work to complete the fencing requirements

Work is also ongoing on the platform, with the final surface planned before the end of May.

On the shed front we have held a site meeting with the contractor and groundwork preparations are due to commence shortly (another mini champagne moment- maybe a prosecco moment perhaps)

On the loco front Moorbarrow and the 03 are currently operating the services. Haulwen' s ticket has now sadly expired after 9 years of excellent reliable service; Welsh Guardsman is being reassembled at Llangollen after repair and Olwen's boiler is having the stays replaced before steam test. The DMU trailer car is in the shed for motor repairs and the addition of a bar to the guards van (so we can serve champagne and prosecco!). Once this leaves the shed GWR 216 should enter which is on the final lap of restoration.

So lots going on down at your favourite West Wales railway....

    Regards

    Matt

    Update

Moorbarrow and the 03 continue to run services at present, with Welsh Guardsman at Llangollen under repair and Olwen's boiler also progressing.

The DMU trailer car is shortly to be replaced in the shed by GWR 216, which will receive further attention to the doors, upholstery work and running gear adjustment. A recent pic (not mine)

Meanwhile on the extension those little jobs are progressing, such as fishplate changes, and a push is intended to get the track work and platform completed within the next month or so.

Plans are also on hand for the start of the construction of the engine shed....

    Regards

    Matt

A further photo of the north end of the platform, duff laid, fencing erected, sign planted.

There is another work weekend shortly to complete the wall/ramp/white line platform/handrails.

At Llangollen Welsh Guardsman is coming back together after the hydraulic test on the boiler.

GWR216 is now in the shed with work ongoing on the doors and some upholstery material in order:

Meanwhile at Bronwydd preliminary work has commenced on the construction of the engine shed.

    Regards

    Matt

That's very authentic looking running in board.

What did you do for the posts, and how did you get the letters?

Matt - Is that a Geismar supplied Donelli KGT 3000 I see in the picture. I ask as we are restoring one on our railway.

But it's really not authentic. Heritage railways should only use traditional manual methods... ;)

Haha, I remember working with Peter on the line! Trust me they were traditional manual methods. He was stronger than me and he was like 80 odd!
