Not sure if this is affecting the overhaul...

but £117k seems a big stake at risk..The text suggests recipients only getting 37p in the £ back.

Michael Whitehouse in the latest Steam in Trust states " Next year we will steam Clun Castle again and start to run her on the mainline once again "

I'll believe it when I see it. I hope he is correct though.

The report above seems to suggest only £475 in online donations so hopefully the loss is not too huge

@mike1522 I think you do Michael Whitehouse a little dis service . Like his father before him who founded Tyseley he has a tremendous vision for what Tyseley and Vintage Trains will be in the years ahead .

All the same, there may be a moral in this. If donating to an appeal it is always better to cut out the middleman and send your donation direct to the recipient, if at all possible.

I'd be pretty surprised if it's wrong, would suggest personally it's more likely to be sooner than later and "next year" offers a bit of breathing space if something unforseen slows progress.

I remember reading last year that Tyseley were concentrating on contract work, since the money that is paying for the overhaul, the profit from Vintage Train tours, would be a lot less due to the cancelled trips because of WCRC operating restrictions last spring.

We are continuing to work on Clun as time and money permits. Not running charters has put a 'dent' in the finances; the workshop is running at 120% on commercial work to compensate.

That being said, work is progressing. The boiler is close to being steamed and the frames are pretty close too. Look for announcements soon.
