How many Great Britains was it advertised on (along with 4472!)?

The rule was by newly overhauled loco. In those cases it was no where near completion. 4472 however was completed but had teething problems which prevented it appearing.

I am an optimist but it's less than 2 weeks now. How are the miracles progressing?

Indeed, and with the Bristol trip due next Wednesday,I wonder what is happening at Southall? Is it now open for steam and is Tangmere there?

No times I can see for the Bristol trip yet (other than original schedule).
    Is this
    - rather late,
    - quite normal
    - slightly worrying
There's a reasonable amount of interest locally because we get few runs on the line here.

Quite normal seems about right for timings from network rail mostly.

E-Mail with our tickets for Wednesday states, to paraphrase as Dad read it off to me:
    - Lizzie not ready, reserve loco Tangmere was to be used
    - Tangmere not available, efforts being made to supply a replacement, but gauging might not be possible at short notice
    - Timings to follow
    - Will run diesel hauled if not steam

Dream of Steam at it again ! Lizzie is pretty much ready, though the problem is it's stuck at Tyseley without an operational crew !

That was my concern in #164. 21st evening trip starts 2 miles away from us and I would book 2 tickets in a heart beat but, on recent form, guess Lizzie might not make it.

Not to have Princess Elizabeth steaming out of Windsor on the Queen's birthday would be a major disappointment of which the 6201 Society and Tyseley will be well aware. I'm sure mountains will be moved in order to fulfill this commitment and if can't be done I'm sure it won't be for the lack of trying. Having said that I'll be pretty dejected having booked on the tour if 6201 doesn't make it especially if the reserve loco's not available as well. Is there a spare A3 or A1 around.

Thanks for that. I am quite sure that you are right and if I do hear that it's confirmed as 4601 (and tickets can still be bought) we will be on it. A spare A1 or A3 would be a nice alternative but still not what we want.

    Quote Steam dreams

*Please be aware that owing to the recent news of delays in the overhaul of 6201 ‘Princess Elizabeth’ the locomotive will not be completed in time for this trip. We did manage to organise a reserve steam locomotive, 34067 Tangmere, but unfortunately, at the time of writing, we have received news that 34067 ‘Tangmere’ has been declared as unfit for this tour.

We are working closely with our train operator and they are doing their very best to source a replacement steam locomotive. At this late stage, this will also require co-operation from Network Rail to gauge the replacement locomotive to be clear on our booked route, i.e., to ensure it fits within the structures on the route.

    End quote.

To put that in english, "No chance of this being steam hauled"

    So, whats up with Tangers?

Ready? is it? "Pretty much" isn't ready, and it certainly isn't "tested and passed fit for the main line", and even if they had a crew, it still wouldn't be down south for next wednesday, even if you started last week.

Rule no 1 still applies. New or newly overhauled locos wont make their first advertised main line tour.

Their train times page now says:
That was up at lunchtime, not sure when I last looked before that.

Wonder if the LSL phone is red hot with 46100 having a 'Royal' Name. The logical and only choice left to them surely?

Thanks, yes it is there. Just a pity that they are also still advertising it as a Lizzy trip in the dates section.

The 13th April trip is now confirmed as Diesel hauled on the SD website ("either a vintage class 33 or class 47") They seem to think that adding Vintage to the sentence makes it better for the passengers :-?
