No snow in Somerset! Plenty of sunshine - see the link to MD webcam a few posts above.

Sorry, although some freight trains have had tickets sold for brake van rides, the engineering train with D7017 is not one of them, so no passengers unfortunately.

Looking forward to the event and appreciate all the hard work and effort of all the WSR team, to put on an event like this Many Thanks !!!

Blizzard condition between Bridgwater and Burnham at about 08:30, when driving up the M5 this morning. All gone when I came back past about 12:00.

For another occasion, yes. Wearing my copywriter's hat, proofreading is one of my strengths. Wearing another kind of hat, I might see some of you tomorrow (and 12th) on the TN-BL shuttle bus. I'll be driving!

Just back from a few days of prep work on the "S&D shed" at BL. Hope all visitors enjoy themselves and have a great time. I'm going for a rest now.

  7. Bournemouth Central platform 1 circa 1966, stood next to a proper SR carriage pre electrification era. My home town, although no recollection of ever travelling on the Serene & Delightful, mores the pity. Bournemouth Belle was our preferred means of travel in those days.

And a great job you do with those shuttle buses, Steamchest. Enjoy the runs, back an, forth, back an' forth. We punters appreciate the workers.

Is there a amended working timetable available

  10. News from the Railway:

"We have been advised by the station staff at Bishops Lydeard that the overflow parking field is waterlogged and will not be available on March 5th. Visitors are reminded of the half hourly bus service offered by service 28 (Buses of Somerset) from Taunton bus station and Taunton railway station and the free bus link from Taunton railway station offered by Crosville Motor Services. See previously printed details."

"There is also parking at the intermediate stations along the route and tickets and souvenir programmes can be purchased there (except Doniford Halt for both and Washford for train tickets – if boarding there pay the travelling ticket inspector)."

Nothing has been issued to staff, so I don't know what you are referring to. Assume it's basically unchanged from the brochure.

The timetables are the same the only thing you have to do is substitute 48624 in place of 45379.

Just seen on wsr.org an image of the exQB BCK being shunted around, what's the latest with this vehicle? WSRA + WSR Plc still arguing about it?

The new WSRA trustees are much more amenable in allowing the PLC to use their vehicles. The BCK is being used in the Kilmersdon shuttles at MD with the S&DJR coach and brake van otherwise there would be very little room for passengers! However, in the last Journal, the WSRA stated that they had sold it to the North Norfolk Railway. I'll leave you to decide if that's true or not!

There are a small number of us (myself included) who proof read the Working timetables and instructions before their issue to staff, about a week before the event.

As far as I am aware, ie: I couldn't find any 'service affecting' changes in the timetables, so as mentioned, all you need to do is substitute the 8F for the Black 5 on the souvenir guide.

I believe the odd mistake appears in the souvenir guide because of print deadlines. I suppose it's better to have something in advance with the odd mistake, than nothing until the day...

For those about this weekend, do enjoy! I'll be out Guarding (alongside @Ian Monkton next weekend) so do give me a wave/introduce yourselves if our paths cross!

If I purchase a two day adult ticket for Saturday 5th, do I have to use it on the 6th or can I use it on another gala day?

Has the 9f arrived? Not heard or seen anything about it. All the others seem to be there
