The crew diagrams agree with Andy & Steve's information on 53809.

  2. Peckett 0-4-0ST no 1788 Kilmersdon will work the SDJR Shuttle workings on all six Gala days between 11am and 4pm. Passengers may ride in SDJR First Class Coach no 4 or the LSWR Road Van for a fare of £2 with proceeds going towards restoring SDJR Coach no 114 at Washford. The trips will be in and out of Minehead Station to between the Marsh Common footpath crossing and Drift Crossing and back. There is no set timetable for these services which will run between arrivals and departures.

Newly restored Barclay 0-4-0ST no 1219 will shunt Washford Yard all all six days of the Gala.

I'd agree with Steve here. I'm working from the Crew Notices with the full WTT. It shows 53809 coming in on a goods Thursday and then running light to Norton Fitzwarren and then back to BL for the night so that I assume that to mean it must be turning to face back to Minehead on the Friday with 44422. As Steve says the usual caveats apply so if in doubt please ring Minehead to check if you are coming to ride behind a specific engine.

But surely there will be at least 3 tender first runs, unless Williton have put in a turntable while no one was looking! 1045 off MD and 1210 off WN return on the 5/6/10.

Only one is strictly 'tender first' but I won't say which on here

Blimey, you lot work fast! I ordered my 3 day ticket and brochure on Monday am and it's just dropped through my letter box this am.

I love the "Bullied" references in the Brochure, an easy mistake to make, or perhaps a bit of a Freudian slip given what's been going on with the WSRA. I will now be spending a couple of days drawing up my own diagrams to ensure I maximise my time behind the 2-8-0s and the 2-10-0.

One other thought on the Brochure, it's a handy pocket size, which is good. I've had a few (I think at the Steel Steam and Stars events) that were A4 sized, now that gives lots of scope for detailed text and big pictures but it's an awkward size and (presumably) more expensive. This one is just about right.

Hi Steve, are there any other details omitted on the programme? The above is one thing not on there which I have now updated. I don't see anywhere on the programme how you're supposed to spot the top and tails. All multi loco workings appear like they're double headed. Just concerned that there's a few things missing given these 2 examples alone.

    Thanks

    Andy

I believe but don't quote me on it that it will arrive in BL on Friday, its rostered on Saturday so the WSR Team will do a quick turnaround and proper warm up before its first turn.

Are the loco workings for Wednesday 8th March available? We now know that the locos rostered that day are 53808, 53809, 44422, 80043 and 34098 and the timetable (an enhanced red service) is available on the WSR website, but I can't find anywhere where it says which loco(s) is/are on each train (it's not in the brochure).

    Weekend weather for West Somerset.

Looks to be OK for 5 and 6.

Cloudier on 5th, and likely to be most sunny on Sunday morning.

Second weekend a bit too far ahead to predict at the moment.

An amendment to the timetables in the brochure: on Friday 11th and Saturday 12th but NOT Sunday 13th the 1050 MD will be extended to NF, and the 1303 BL will start from NF (it's the same set of stock). In both cases, the same loco will turn on the triangle and work the train back.

Very impressed with the swift arrival of brochure and ticket. Looking forward to this a lot now, planning travel on the Thursday and then a morning of pictures on the second Saturday.

A couple of questions I had from the brochure:

    * Non/limited-stop trains: I'm assuming if only a 'dep' and no 'arr' time is shown on a station that's normally got both, that train isn't stopping? But what about where a time is shown at a non-passing station for what looks like a non or limited-stop train? I'm particularly looking at the first up and down trains of Thursday, and whether they stop at Watchet or not. I've assuming the up doesn't call at Blue Anchor. The 13.25 up train on Thurs I've assumed is non-stop to Lydeard.

    * Double-heading/banking - am I right to guess that where the locos are split by a / that's banking and where they're listed one above the other that's double-heading?

    * Is there a plan yet for which way will be tender/bunker first with the trains that terminate at Williton?

    * And does the goods that runs through to Norton on Thurs pm have a timetabled return to Lydeard, or does it stable at Norton/run back at an ad hoc time?

    Thanks for any help.

I've had a quick scan of the Operating Instructions issued to staff.

Point 1: I don't know how the times appear in the brochure, if they are in italics, that is a passing, ie. non-stop, time. The Watchet times you mentioned are stops, the first up does not stop at Blue Anchor, the 1325 is non-stop throughout.

Point 2: All trains with two locos are double-headed. The only banked train I can find is the 1330 NF Goods on Sunday 6th which is banked by 44422 as far as Crowcombe. 44422 then returns to BL light engine.

Point 3: The instructions are not clear which way round the locos will be on the WN runs.

Point 4: The goods mentioned no longer runs to NF, it now terminates at BL.

Was quite surprised to see long breaks in departures from BL in late morning, had thought that WSR's events team had moved away from that practice in recent years.

Visiting tomorrow & Sunday. Can anyone advise if the NF trains stop at the platform and can you get out and take photos whilst the engines run round? Otherwise it's over half an hour stuck on a non moving train.
