The commemoration of the closure of the Somerset and Dorset Joint Railway .....
Surely Ivo Peter's Bentley will be seen in the vicinity? ;) <BJ>

  2. The Commemorative Brochure has arrived from the printers and pre-ordered copies should now start to arrive on doormats ;-)

Please note the price of the brochure is £3 (and not as shown on the cover)

  10. Mine arrived today by mail...

If you call there, I'm sure someone at Minehead will find you a copy, Tony, and relieve you of your £3 ;)

  11. The WSR's Chief Mechanical Engineer, Andy Forster, reports:

"We have been advised that the ORR have today suspended the operating licence of West Coast Railway Company who were due to move Ian Riley's Black Five number 44871 to our S&D gala. We will be investigating any satisfactory alternative means to enable this move to proceed, however this may not be possible. Whatever the outcome we will endeavour to try and source a replacement locomotive of a suitable type so that the Gala can be operated as planned."

I replied to the same question that you asked back at message #245, so go back and have a re-read! The doubt at the moment is whether 44871, which has been booked since that message, will be able to come by rail as it would have been driven by West Coast drivers. I don't know how up-to-date you are with railway news, but West Coast have been suspended from all operations on the main line for the time being. It is extremely unlikely that another operator, eg DBS, would be able to bring it by rail as it is not in their pool of engines which they operate, so if it does come now, it will most likely be by road.
