Any real Ale weekends being planned in the coming weeks on the Railways, anywhere south of Peterborough preferred, getting a bit of a dry mouth.

The Devon Diesel Society's bar at Staverton station will be open Friday 19th to Sunday 21st Feb as part of the South Devon Railway branch line gala. Open from 12 each day until 22.30 on Friday and Saturday, and 17.30 on Sunday. Other festivals this year are over the Spring Bank Holiday weekend at the end of May, and as normal our Rails and Ales event over the August bank holiday weekend.

CVR Steam Gala should have a Real Ale Bar onboard the set going to Ipstones, with the CVR branded beers available from both Cheddleton & Froghall.

The Black Lion at Consall also has their winter ale festival on over the same weekend, and the Boat at Cheddleton has new (and much improved) owners.

Sorry no. The bar is only open at specific times for events. We need a temporary event notice to open the bar to the public, however in the future it may prove possible / viable to obtain a premises licence and then open on a more regular basis.

50+ beers now that's got to be an added attraction to an already excellent Railway.

I'll add a plug for the Mid Hants own Real Ale Train.
Running on 34 evenings between 27 Feb and 03 Dec (including (new for 2016) 4 Fridays).

I understand that the list of breweries ** All Local ** for each date have now been agreed(1), so expect to see that added to the page soon.
Don't forget to book in advance though, as it's typically sold out well in advance.

    (1) Breweries cannot be guaranteed.

Its a little while away, but a Beer Festival is held in conjunction with the Swanage Railway Diesel Gala (6-8 May); should be shaping up to be a good one.

No idea. The history of that minor railway is not my strong point. ;)
