No I do not currently volunteer
I went back on Sunday for a ride and some photting once the rain had stopped. The crowds certainly did show up in the afternoon...

Same shot as @JohnRobinson earlier in this thread...looking closely someone has attached at GoPro to Sir Keith!

Another great gala at the GCR, at times during these events you don't know which way to look with so many movements going on. As always thanks to all involved in putting on the show.

Well I've just about recovered from what was a hectic but very successful weekend on the whole. I had a day as Guard on Friday, spent Saturday working at Loughborough and then Sunday down at Rothley Brook. It was definately one the best GC galas I've worked at in a while and I don't think anything ran more than about 15 mins late at any point during the weekend which always helps.

In regards to the comments about the short rakes and overcrowding onboard in particular on Saturday I can only apologise. We were expecting the western set (or at least some it) to have been made available but it was still in for maintenance at Rothley which was not ideal to say the least. We were able to pinch a spare dining car to add to one of the sets at lunchtime on Saturday but we'd have liked to have started out with more seats on all three sets in the first place. I hope this didn't detract from people's enjoyment of the event too much!

Thank you for all the kind comments anyway, there's a lot of great pictures and videos which I've enjoyed looking at and watching and it's always nice to be able to see the gala from lots of different perspectives after event. Hopefully we've done enough to be able to entice you back to the GCR at some point soon!

Well it needed pointing out. I'm rostered in one of the boxes on Saturday and I got sent a timetable and thought "what is this?" - nothing appeared on the GCR website until after the gala, which I guess was a deliberate ploy but it doesn't leave long to publicise what should be a mini-gala by most people's standards.
