    OK you beautiful people.

How many of you all out there who dont volunteer, at any of our wonderful Pres Rlys, have wanted to take part but have difficulty (for whatever reason) getting to said railway.

Now if you see yourself in the above how about putting your name to this thread and stating for example "I live in Sherborne and would like to volunteer at Swanage but cant get there because I have no car".

Now those people, on here, who already go to named railway (the above was only an example) could contact said person (via PM) and see if they could arrange transport say from another railway member who lives nearby. I think you get the picture.

Now this could, and hopefully should, generate a few more working volunteers. Now obviously the greater distances involved the more difficult it will be to organise/arrange. But hopefully you see where I,m coming from.

I like it! I like it Woof, very good idea.

I live in South London and volunteer on the Mid-Hants Railway at weekends ,mostly Saturdays but sometimes a Sunday too ,Especially when the wife goes to her Mothers you end up with a weekend pass.

It takes just under an hour to get there so if anyone wants to go please contact me on this thread and I will be delighted to take you.

    Regards
    Chris

Thanks for starting this thread. I a member of the Volunteer Resourcing Team at the Bluebell Railway (responsible for things like Media, Development and Volunteering for Young People).

If anyone would like any info about the Bluebell, send me a PM or e-mail my colleague on

Another member of the team organised a very very successful "Find Out More" Open Day type event where prospective new people could visit us, have a look round and talk to member so of the team, other volunteers and others about on the day. 26 came on Friday and 32 on Saturday a large number joined the P-Way and some various Operational Roles.

Apologies if I've hijacked this a tad!

That's a very good idea Woof. I travel to the Mid-Hants every Sunday from Guildford, and would be happy to take anybody.

I still think this is an excellent idea, pity that it seems to have fallen on stony ground.

I would however I have a bike, a good mainline connetion. TBH as well you might as well ask when you've been down to a railway a few times and you know people live near you that can help.

Even so anyone live in wadhurst and volunter on the Spa valley?

Suppose now we have the 'Local Railway' tab in our profile we can use that to show people which lines we volunteer on, and so possibly anyone interested in 'your' line will contact you.
