CCE left Euston 14L. Will be interesting to see how things develop north of Carnforth unless it makes up deficit..

Yes I'm on the train. 2 trips to buffet car for bacon rolls, run out both times. Downside of being in first bay of front coach ;)

Shame, though your reward will come later when 70000 gets into her stride on Shap. Hopefully they've got some more bacon rolls on the go. There's never enough of them in my experience,

Standard class at front. Arrived Crewe 09.15 2 late. 67 has uncoupled and moved off. Brit just run thro sta with support 35465. Plan is to detach 21272 from rear so load 11 still for the Brit.

Be interesting to see whether the Brit is held at Crewe to let the late running Cumbrian Coast go ahead.

Hope you have a great day. Someone on the East Yorkshireman trip has mentioned that an announcement was made regarding leaning out of windows, sticking cameras etc out of them etc. There's also a warning in the tour brochure.

Anything similar happened on your trip?

Looks like a nice run Crewe - Barton. Only a bit outside even time.

Thro Warrington in 24 32 from Crewe, Preston 53 10 for the 51 miles. 50 slack at Warrington. Checked by TPE to 33 before Wigan, recovered to 46 at Boars Head. Very impressive. Purring along in the 70s on the level, brakes applied each time we have gone over 75. Finished watering at Barton. Pendo just gone N, presume we follow next TPE.

Watch out. CCE was late away from Carnforth (held up by Trans Pennine) so the Brit will be on its tail soon.

RTT suggests that the Brit was only five minutes behind Galatea at Oxenholme instead of the booked 10 minute gap so that could become frustrating for the DBS crew who seem well on top of things.

RTT shows CCE losing time steadily since leaving Carnforth - reporting as 11 late by Tebay having lost a further 5 mins from Oxenholme, and so only 3 mins betwen the pair at Tebay.

If RTT is correct, the Brit is now right up the tail of Galatea at Tebay. So the climb of Shap will be at the speed of the slowest. That will not make things all that easy for the Brit and extremely frustrating for those who were hoping for a good climb of Shap. A rare treat for the photographers but not a nice experience for the crew of the Brit.

Timings for Tebay thanks to Realtime Trains. <BJ>
    5699 'Galatea' (due Tebay 12:02), pass 12:13

Both steam trains now taking water at Upperby Bridge. We caught up Galatea, also on load 11, at Oxenholme. Remainder of climb to Grayrigg, and Shap, protracted. Smoke from Galatea was visible ahead on the open part of Shap bank. Will that ever happen again? A day for the photographers if not stopwatchers.

Splendid update Sean, brings many images to mind. I nearly booked on this one, now I wish I had. So can you comment at all on the "droplight policy" today. I'm interested to know if a DBS operated train is following the same policy as those run by WCR today? Many thanks.
