I think looking at all the associated workings that there will be a diesel on the back from Carnforth, it provides back up should it be required on the main steam section and it provides the loco to assist with turning the train at Carlisle which no one seems to have picked up on so far.
Assuming off course West Coast stick to the plans I cannot see 2 lots of propelling at Carlisle....

I doubt if the train will be turned at Carlisle, they usually stay in the platform whilst the loco/s go for service and turning.

Most unusual for train to be turned at Carlisle. Also isnt this an LE path for the diesel from Carnforth to Preston? :

Aahh Well spotted - I missed that!
I have also read on the Works since I posted my comments that the train will stay in the platform at Carlisle

Anyone seeing anything, or heard anything, or even just a toot from Leander yet?

Left Victoria with just the 47 on the front as expected, now approaching Carnforth.

Please be advised due to a changeover to a new website format amended details for the Hadrian tour today, 7th March, were lost. The two locomotives hauling our train today are 45690 'Leander' and Black V No. 45407.

For the Easterling tour tomorrow, 8th March, there is no diesel involvement scheduled.

That statement is at variance with the NR STN issued on 4th March - "Train Note: Steam Loco 61306 & POB + 9 Vehicles + Class 47 or 57"
I'll be delighted if things have changed.

I am sure I have read a thread on this tour but it seems to have gone into cyberspace!!!
(Mod edit: Yes it did but it's now back and your post has been merged)

Here are shots of 45407 & 45690 on the outward leg at Scout Green and Shap Wells.

    Thanks.
