Starting a thread for this interesting jaunt with many hours behind double headed Black 5's. They're earning their keep and it seems the diesel last leg takes a lot longer than the morning outward behind the Black 5's. Assume pathing ?? Should be a bright crisp morning for photos.

ECS seems to be already down there :

    http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/U63447/2014/12/15/advanced

having taken over 5 hrs to get there from Southall (and done a tour of Kent).

Gives an idea of the lengthy and complex moves for this type of railtour starting in outlying parts, also very demanding of support crew.

Yes, presumably these days support crews are also all endurance athletes in full training?

Well, first off, OMG, I think around 2 - 3 mm of his left trouser leg have gone over the edge of the yellow line.

Straight into the low sun at Clapham High Street. Very brief stop so not many picked up there I fancy.

On time Bristol 5s did grand job. No diesel and standard roasting from steam heat. Assured they're not turning the train. Will see on way back.

My video of the train at West Drayton and then just past Newbury, looked superb in the sunshine:

Some passengers do nothing but moan, open the windows, let a bit of fresh air and cinders in....
