Because some people in this world, like me, have a weird sense of humour, especially where words that sound the same but are spelt differently get swapped over.

On http://www.uksteam.info/tours/ this train is shown as still running, and as running to Williton (tbc). I don't know whether 61306 will run through to Williton; may be replaced at BL.

News of the B1 from another thread. This may affect the tour on the 16th. <BJ>

    Steam Dreams, Chinnor - Weymouth, 61306, 04/04/19.
Postponed due to unavailability of 61306.
Mayflower has developed an issue with her boiler and cannot be repaired in time.

Ian, - I suspect we are being teased about recent past history. :)

Steam enthusiasts regenerate Captain, they don't die out and thus I fear diesel enthusiasts will not inherit the earth as you suggest.
I cut my teeth as a young lad on diesel types including 'Peaks" but much prefer the experience of steam which I fear will last longer than the heritage diesels we currently have preserved.

Does anybody have an idea what the visiting loco will be for this summer? I visited the line twice last summer, in early July and late August and travelled behind the US loco which was unique, loud but very tempremantak according to WSR staff. I also was very fortunate to travel behind Braunton in late August which was simply majestic! Will weight restrictions limit what locos will traverse the line over the forthcoming season?

I'm not connected with the railway, so cannot say for sure, but I suspect that the intention will be to try to run the railway with what is available and avoid hiring in additional locos - that should mean the two Manors, Hall, 53809 and 9351, I think.. The NYMR managed to get through a season with just 4 engines a couple of years ago under more challenging circumstances (both the nature of the line and and meeting additional NR standards for Whitby running) so it should be possible> It does need a shed staff prepared to go the extra mile, though.

I would suggest that some/most/nearly all of you need to read the excellent article in the April Railway Magazine by Gary Boyd-Hope on the WSR entitled 'back from the brink'. Its no doubt available in all good WH Smith libraries - it really brings home how close (and certainly not out of the woods by any stretch of the imagination) the WSR recently came to not being there.
Probably also explains in a roundabout way that the lack of variety or visiting locos is an absolute necessity - and if truth be told, would be very low down on any sane directors list.

My opinion only, but better article than Steam Railway, and somewhat closer to the knuckle, particularly on finance matters and how open the new Chairman was.
