47828's repaint has been finish and it is good to go tomorrow.

Shame about the 88, I can only come on Saturday. Oh well, I'll focus on the 45s.

Don't do them! Everyone knows if you start doing Peaks it's a slippery slope!

Will something replace the 88 on Saturday?

What are the steam locos out on Sunday?

    Thanks

Well there's a pair of Twentys sat out of use/barred from attending, why not suck it up and use them?

Wow, glad I got the 88 in on Thursday! It is exceptionally quiet, with very little effort to get up to speed. They look fantastic too. Excellent gala, plenty of variety and the drivers knew they were in the entertainment business. Sherwood Forester was incredible up Eardington in the morning. When the timetable started to slip, there was plenty of effort by staff to regain time. The 10 extra mk 2's made all the difference this year and despite it being very busy for a Thursday, there was not too much overcrowding. Only issue appeared to be a lack of air conditioning on some of the stock - sunshine and hot/sweaty diesel fans doesn't make the best travelling conditions!
But well done SVR, quite possibly the gala of the year (and I'm a steam fan normally!).

Currently 1 hour late due to a signal failure between KR and BY.

That's suprising, by modern standards the 68 is a noisy brute.

Yeach BUT the 50 on the back was making a whole lot of noise almost the same as a WCRC 47 on the back of a kettle tour, just saying

Some video of the action from the Friday

Another excellent diesel event by the SVR, had a good 2 days riding up and down the line behind the various locos.

Yes my conclusion on Thursday's run that 88003 sounds a lot like 50008...

Wasn't that noisy when I filmed it on the Friday either.
