According to todays Yorkshre Post newspaper on Sunday 20th Jan it is intended to give 957 its last steaming before its boiler certificate expires. 1300 is still at the railway following the autumn gala and it is intended to have that in steam also together with 41241. 41241 is also coming out of traffic because its boiler certificate is up. There was nothing on the railways website about this when I checked earlier but I presume that this information is from a press release by the railway. One would imagine that the intention is to double head the L&Y locos on vintage coaches and use the Ivatt on the service set.

I had heard this news at the end of November but - as arrangements had not been finalised - I was asked to await confirmation from the KWVR. It seems as though this may now be confirmed but I have yet to hear officially from the KWVR - or note it on its website

We are finalising details and will post on the website shortly. It's on the Facebook/Twitter feed and press released.

Plan is to double head 957 and 1300, although stock options might be limited by what is steam heated (some of the vintage stock isn't and it's not likely to that warm so as not to need heating!).

DMU drag might go down well, heat wise! Might look quite authentic behind the Ivatt, too...

Would anyone from the K&WVR have any idea what will be running on 28th December please? Planning a day visit.

How does it effect the K&WVR's motive power fleet? Will it just be 80002 and 43924 running? Any plans for 957 and 41241 to be overhauled?

The KWVR is actually fairly solid with regards to steam traction.

Don't forget the coal tank. And Isn't the WD 2-8-0 supposed to be back soon? Plus City of Wells. And the USATC 2-8-0. They've only got 5 miles remember!

957 is not owned by the Railway so it is hard to say, although I believe the plan is to overhaul her more or less straight away

The decision on 41241 is yet to be decided as she requires heavy work if we were to overhaul her again. There are other locos for example that could be more cost effective to overhaul first. So again it is not my place to say as a final decision is yet to be made.

In terms of motive power. the WD 90733 is expected back in service late spring/early summer.
S160 5820 is also progressing really well and hopefully will be ready by the end of the Summer and 34092 COW will hopefully steam by the end of the year.

Between the end of January - early spring things will be tight with just the 2 main engines.

The plan for Sunday is for the Ivatt to be on the normal 'A' set, which is the train with the bar on board on the timetable, and double headed 957 and the A Class 1300 with the suburban stock with the addition of the L&Y Society club carriage.

Hope that helps make your mind up!

Facebook update! - Owing to a Police incident, train services between Ingrow West and Keighley are currently suspended. We are operating a shuttle service in between Oxenhope and Damems Junction. Buses are being sourced for onward travel to Keighley. More info when known.
