Should be calling in for a short visit on Sunday when the Torbay Express arrives, is it known what Loco will be out on the DSR service? Thanks!

7820 is the service engine this weekend. sharing 2 train running next tues-thurs with 5542.

5542 will head to churston Thursday evening to be prepared for her trip to WSR. 7820 & 7827 will share the last 3 days of our 2 train service & then 7820 will head up to churston for her journey back home to Toddington. Both engines have performed almost faultlessly and have certainly earnt their keep, our line certainly isn't the kindest of routes, but to come down here and perform as they have, is a real credit to both the owning groups and we wish to thank them enormously for bringing their engines down to us for the summer.

7827 will then run until early October, before she is withdrawn for her annual boiler exam. 4277 will then take over, until 75014 emerges from the paintshop. there are few niggles to sort out from her test runs before she gets painted. But we are planning to officially reintroduce her into traffic in early October.

4555 is expected to be in service for April next year, with S160 2253 following sometime in the later part of the year.

Paid a visit both yesterday and today inbetween the Cathedrals Express and Torbay Expresses. Felt very sorry for the crew on 7820 yesterday afternoon in the heavy rain... and the wedding party that had to walk through the very busy train to get to the Devon Belle car at Kingswear to stay dry!

A short clip of 7820 barking out of Greenway with the 13:00 Kingswear - Paignton service on Sunday.

    Enjoy!

I presume it is still planned for the Manor to be used for the next week or so, and is it the last year before her '10 yearly' overhaul?

7827 has been replaced by 4277 for this week. The manor had a re-tube a few years ago meaning it has a fresh 10 year ticket.

not quite, 7827's 10 year boiler ticket expires in 2021. She is up at churston for a washout, so 4277 will be the service engine until around the middle of October.

75014 is having some attention to super heater elements, before entering the paintshop early November. We have to wait for the coach that is currently being repainted to be finished first.

It is planned she will officially re-enter service for the Santa trains.

We had a lovely day again on the railway. 7827 came out to play which was an unexpected bonus. 4277 rear end was under the jacks at churston I understand she was running at low speed for part of yesterday, with 7827 being made ready at short notice for today's service yesterday afternoon. Thanks going the extra mile to get her into use instead of the diesel that was forecast.

Sorry but think this is just WRONG.
Don't know if it should be posted on here but it's to do with DSR.
Wonder if they will replace with newer open top buses ?
Perhaps someone on here can shed light on it.
I wish I'd known about it, so could have gone down.
I used to like going down to Paignton in the Summer & take a ride to Totnes & back on them.

Did you read the article GWR? Not sure what you feel is 'wrong'?
They are old vehicles and will not pass current legal requirements for their purpose.
But the good news is they are passing into preservation (I knew this info early this year).
There is no reason why replacement buses could not be open topped, if you really want an answer ask the DSR. (Phone number in the signature link)

As said in the blog article the VR's will not be DDA compliant and therefore will not be able to be used in normal revenue service. There are plans for new buses to be converted to open top (two I believe) which will be DDA compliant and be used on the 100 service route. Passengers have come to expect an open top bus on this service, especially during the summer months. I believe the VR's have been sold to preservationists which is good news, so hope to see them at some point in the future somewhere!

Can they not revisit for 'special days' if these were to be organised. I often see Southdown open and closed topped buses in West Sussex.

The only transport I know about that was not allowed to provide heritage rides without modification were the DC3 airplanes which needed blow up slide escape shoots fitted to the doors. Air Atlantic and the Dutch Dakota Association did not/were not able to comply so sadly flights in DC3s are not available.

Brian these buses are not on occasional 'heritage' duties. they provide a daily local bus service, service 100 between Paignton and Totnes, from the end of March until the end of October and as such are subject to the conditions most bus companies have to adhere to.
No reason why they could not visit but the DSR is a pretty busy line, its operations being the principal focus.
