7th/ 8th sept chasewater railway steam gala

    chasewater returns again with its anual september gala, with an intensive passenger and freight trains as always, there will be the usual mainline running coaching stock, bay to bay breakvan rides, coal train and the return of the mix freight train, with some very nicely painted waggons if i ,ay say so my self.
    locos in steam/ service:
    0-4-0 Barclay "Colin McAndrew"
    0-6-0 RSH "Nechels N04"
    0-4-0 Bagnall "Kent No2"
    also joining us for the gala will be 0-6-0 Hunslet austerity "Walkden" making a rare outing from our friends a ribble steam railway
    diesel shunters:

    0-4-0 baguely Bass N05
    Tickets: Adult £5.95 Children £2.95 members £1.00
    the first train will leave brownhills west at 10am, also the sidings cafe will be open both days serving hot and cold food and drinks also with a carvery on sunday from 12pm at only £4.95 per person. hope to see you there!

    This is the first time that Walkden has left Ribble Steam Railway

    I believe it is, since she finished service in the Netherlands and came back to Britain at ribble I don't think she has ever left there

    Paid a flying visit Sunday morning to what seemed to be a very good gala. Walkden sounded very impressive (especially banking the freight out of Chasewater Heaths!), and the timetable meant that there was a loco to see at each station at most times - good thinking, that. £5.95 rover excellent value for money, as was the museum sales stand - good quality magazines at 5p each, and the bloke seemed shocked when I offered they keep the change! Also particularly impressed with the slickness of the shunting moves, many larger lines could learn a lot from that!

    Glad you enjoyed the gala, that is what we want
    Glad you enjoyed the banking of the freight on Sunday, I was on the regulator and it seemed impressive from in the cab as well!
    It was a nice engine to shunt around with as the steam brake is nice and easy to use
