This tour has failed at Salisbury!

    Faulty diesel to blame.

A thoroughly peed off support crew sat in Tangmere's support coach at Barton Hill this morning. What a total waste of time and effort. Perhaps the loco and crews will be allowed to travel back to the capital today. <BJ>

Can't believe they just gave up, surely another loco could have taken the train on to Bristol to a waiting Tangmere. I presume it was impossible to run Tangmere light to Salisbury to pick up the train.

Problem was 3 vac braked coaches in the train, nearest vac braked loco (47245) was at Southall, nearest availible crew was even further away.

I thought Tangmere was supposed to tak over at Westbury. So why not run Tangmere and coach to Salisbury. It would take a bit of shunting to get everything ni the right order. But still quicker than waiting for 47245.
Anyway, are the empties going back to Southall this evening, or on Monday as booked?

Not exactly up to speed on this charter are you? The diesel leg was to Bristol. That's why Tangmere ran to Bristol yesterday. 47.245 is running to Salisbury to drag the dead box and stock (or 'empties') back to Eastleigh. <BJ>

Thats what happens when depots, station pilots, spare locos etc are ruthlessly ripped out the rail system. I think one of the places that seems to have a reserve of locos is Didcot (air braked freight locos admittedly). I think this stems from BR days.

What about the poor punters? How are they getting home to Bournemouth/Poole etc?

What I was trying to say was that RTC website said 34067 from/ to Westbury. In answer to being shot down in flames.
