I received the following which might benefit from wider circulation. It would be nice to see the loco preserved:

"I suspect you have heard that Aberthaw Power Station is planned to close in the near future. Earlier this year my wife and I made contact with RWE to view the Peckett Locomotive and during the visit we explained the historical importance of this locomotive. I have been contacted by RWE to ask if I know of any preservation groups that would like to acquire the locomotive. The Peckett has been plinthed on a short piece of track for a long time - but in 2006 received a cosmetic repaint/refurbish and so is in relatively sound condition - having said that it hasn't moved or been started for a long time. When we saw it, it looked complete.

I would love to put this on my front lawn - but suspect the neighbours would be a bit miffed!

So, if you or anyone you know has a firm interest to preserve this locomotive, please could you contact me at first instance. Please feel free to pass this note to others,

    kind regards Keith
