I must say that 53808 looks more at home on the Mid-Hants pulling green coaches rather than those brown and cream ones. :):):)

it will look even more at home at the head of the MHR freight train, especially if the group can put a decent length rake together running non stop passing the Ivatt 2 on a local two coach bulleid set, at Medstead, , then the Std 4 with 4 green Mk 1's at Ropley

Work has started on the restoration of Ventilated Meat Van 870073 (or 870067 as the departmental's site suggest it should actually be.)
One of the long standing volunteers came down a few weeks ago and measured up the doors, as the existing ones are quite rotten. These are being made off-site, and I am told one set are already complete, and the second is waiting for some more screws to arrive. The overall condition of the van is very good, with just a few timbers requiring replacement on the body and roof.

Last week, a start was made on removing rust; some grinders required to progress this.

At some point, the vac cylinder will come off for overhaul, and new pipes will be cut and fitted. The plan is to put the van into BR Crimson, and I'm hopeful we should see this included in the freight set at some point next year, all being well. My thanks go to the Wagon Group for being so welcoming and helping with the restoration - it will certainly speed things up.

Thanks for the update on the wagon. Look forward to seeing it in the freight train at some point.

That is an absolute cracker Paul! Looks like the charter had perfect conditions this afternoon.
The weather is supposed to be pretty rough tomorrow for the Jubilee farewell weekend unfortunately.
I am hoping I will see her when she moves back to the KWVR on 3rd November

Just out of interest who’s the guy who presents the YouTube videos on the Mid Hants, just watched the 7F one, and thought it was another great production.
I certainly think a few other railways could learn something from doing something like this.

Will Stratton, he was firing on the charter this afternoon. His videos are very good!

Cheers mate, can you say a big thank you from me to him? They’re really well put together vids and I think he comes across rather well. As I say it’s something other railways could learn from. It’s a little something that helped get me through furlough. :):)

Add me to the list of people thanking Will for his efforts. Really enjoy the videos. He is a also a TV star as he featured in the excellent Steam Train Britain Series on the Yesterday channel. He is captured volunteering on the Ffestiniog Railway.
