Would anyone who knows the area be able to suggest any phot/video locations around the South Otterington for tomorrows run please? I am intending to see 45407 with the Cotton mill at Diggle then hopefully get to see Tornado on the outward run and I wont have much time to suss out the area.

    Thanks in advance, Neil.

I should be at Croxdale viaduct tomorrow for the outward run, and then probably try something at Gateshead for the return.

Just been listening to radio 5 Live and they had a live interview with Graeme Bunker from Tornado's foot plate.
It made me think with all the media interest today there will probably be a lot of people lineside who would'nt normally
be there and consequently a good chance some of them will get wrong side of the fence or off the end of platforms.
Transport Police can't be every where, so maybe it's up to you responsible linesiders to ask them politely not to trespass.
We don't need a serious trespass incident with the world looking on.

Yes and the driver obviously loves the whistle! Heard it at least 10 times in my maths lesson....God I hate Saturday school!

Through Northallerton a couple of minutes down but going like the clappers - reasonable video until the moment the cap standing the wrong side of the yellow line decided he better get the right side as 130T of steam loco was about to pass him at 70mph+!

Driver still hanging on the whistle. Less people than for the test run and few "proper" photographers - of course, in daylight, far more locations and many better than a station.

I'm afraid the south easterly wind has boll****ed things a bit, that and those bloody wires.

Why no name plates as well? #-o

This one was tone mapped using PhotoMatix and I've removed the wires.

I expect its all part of getting the maximum number of press events - you have to hand it to the A1 trust, they certainly know how to get publicity and keep it going. Bit of a shame they didnt get a chance to move the numberplate up, that is if its still the plan to do so.

Aaargh, I've been outed, nice to meet you though and enjoy your trip behind "Tornado" tomorrow.

I might try again tomorrow if I can think of somewhere different.

I've just had a look on YouTube and hope that there are some better videos of Tornado to come, with the exception of just a couple from regular posters the rest range from poor to B**** awful... ](*,)

Yeah i had a quick look on Youtube Ralph and some of them weren't too good.
I was rather pleased with my footage, it was a cracking sight to see it this morning, loved every minute of it. We went just outside Shipton for the first time near Overton and i thought ohh its quite remote there won't be that many people about, turned out to be hundreds.

A cracking shot with the sun shining straight onto the engine, really looking forward to tomorrow now.
Cracking shots already online, well done :)

My footage available here along with the usual HD option:

Agree with Ralph re the disappointing video coverage, thank goodness Simon has managed to avoid the crowds and given us the best video of the day.

Got to agree Ralph and Austin, thats the video of the day so far. I was expecting a lot more from today, perhaps all the "nat pressers" are at the pub celebrating this astounding achievement =D> and will share with us later :-k

Some nice stills, and tommorrow, as they say, is another day !! Bit less wind would be nice [-o<
