Thanks for posting the link to the Llangollen Website with the photos of 2807 finally at Llangollen. Its a very cheering sight even though the weather appears to be doing its best to dampen things down! I am fairly certain that Broomhalla is right as regards the tender. 2807's tender has remained behind at Toddington for some additional work to finish it off, including repainting, prior to the return to Toddington of 2807 later this year. There are indeed very few of these locos currently operational despite several 28xxs and 2884s surviving the torch at Barry. 3822 was certainly a very popular loco at the GWR when it visited from Didcot and the class as a whole (including 2807 itself) were a very common sight on the Honeybourne Line, but I digress. Thanks for the update.

Very appropriate - it was built about the same time as 2807.

Our tender has remained at Toddy for some additional work and painting. Its keeping the team busy while the frames are at Llan. We also have a TPO on loan so we are busy moving kit and equipment into it.

Not sure who does your website updates, but its Cotswold Steam Preservation that have sent the frames to Llan not the G&WSR

Well it's been a while since i last updated this thread so i thought i might as well.

All things are go at Llangollen shed with plenty of work going on. First off the work on the Jinty is progressing very well and the boiler is now back in the frames, i am unsure if she has been steam tested but it can't be far off.

Secondly and because the jinty is now on the home straight Jessie is returning to her industrial livery and appearance. Or at least that is what i think is going on, i'm a little unsure.

Foxcote Manor is also progressing well and i can't wait for her return.

And also the shed yard is now in the process of being concreted and this has meant that the lamp has been removed and should be replaced in time by a more powerful halogen lamp that will provide much better lighting.

    Well that's all.

I was told yesterday by a Foxcote Manor Society member that the boiler is in good nick, only requiring a re-tube & work to the foundation ring. The chassis requires minimal work.
The Jinty has been steam tested & will return as 'Thomas' at the February Thomas event.
'Jessie' will return as a saddle tank shortly, as it only involves replacing the saddle tank, original pipework & a coat of paint. Standard tank 80072 has been painted in black gloss at Pentrefelin Carriage Works & will move down to Llangollen shed to be lined out early this week.
The steam railmotor from Didcot will have the power unit inserted in the near future, replacing the present bogie it is sitting on.

    Bob.

WOW we are not only getting a concrete floor but also a light that actually provides light! Can't wait for both of those to be completed lol

With regards to the question of 7822's return, last time I spoke with Micky and Paul they said they were hoping for around X-mas 2010 / New Yr 2011 depending upon the condition of the boiler, as that was the only reason she was stopped in the first place. Hopefully don't have to wait to long as she is hugely popular among the crews and visitors certainly like her too.

Hopefully Foxcote will return sooner... All depends on when the paid staff can open up a space in the boilershop. 2807's boiler is on the final straight now, and the East lancs Black 5 boiler shouldn't be too far off. Then there is only Sir Gomer's and Desmonds to finish...

The Jinty boiler has had it's out of frames steam test, and as can be seen in Broomhallas pics, it was fitted into the frames about two weeks ago.

The steam railmotor boiler / power bogie assembly will be heading down to Pentrefelyn soon, to be fitted in to the coach body.

On the back road in the shed, some of the 'long termers' are progressing steadily. 7754 is having a new dragbox and bunker at the moment, and work on 5532's brake rigging is nearing completion.

The concreting is progressing slowly. It will make the pit area much safer! Especially when the large crane is set up. And spring changes are being carried out.

It will be nice to have a little bit more lighting out there, but it will take the fun out of getting the loco ready, by the light of the silvery moon and the odd flare lamp!!!!

I was up at Llangollen shed again on Sunday and with a few things having been moved about i was able to get some better pictures of Foxcote and the resident pannier that is under overhaul.

Also as reported last time as one Thomas turns back into it's former industrial identity are resident jinty returns to it's thomas appearance.

industrial fetish you say they pulled loads of coal and steel which is true enough but they pulled it round and into short sidings and works complex plenty of forward and reverse stuff but they never pulled it along a 5/6/7/8/9/10 mile branch line

Only recent major news I have heard is that the new cylinders for 5539 are being machined at present.

Pics of this are on the Llangollen website. Not sure if it's one cylinder or two though - different places on the web seem to alternate captions between cylinder and cylinders. There is also an implication on the Llangollen website that only the right cylinder was damaged. Does anyone from Llangollen know the correct story?
