Happy New Year! So it seems, more of the same at Peak Rail!
Well ,all members of the Peak Railway Association should have their invite to the Association's AGM on Saturday 23rd Feburary 2019 at 1.30pm in the Gallery Room of the Whitworth Centre, Darley Dale....

Anyway, Have a look in the January Rail Express, page 13. Commuter Rail proposals, feasibility study into increasing commuter access by rail for the Bury / Rossendale corridor. Option 1 - extension of Metrolink to Rawtenstall, then to various options for "heavy rail" to "share the East Lancs Railway formation from Castleton, including a freight terminal at Haywood .....

This report has been submitted to the chief executive of Transport for the North, so Peak Rail PLC, think on!

    So s
So the saga continues, must be getting abit isolated now, with upsetting groups. I thought the disputes with grinsty were over. And will this long standing volunteer lodge a 3rd legal claim against PR

I believe that the member wasn't even chasing full payment, by generously treating some of the monies owed as a donation to PR. Personally I'd pursue payment through the County Court! I don't know what the member intends to do, if anything. Given PR's previous treatment of dissenters I should state that the member has not publicised this matter, it came to light via Others. A part payment had been made earlier in the year but tellingly it was paid for by the PRA instead of the PLC and it was only for a small amount, which suggests to me a cash flow problem.

So now I've got Plc Directors lavishng my share money on solicitors (I forget how many our Joint MD has employed over the years and not won a case), and PRA Directors spending my membership money on propping up the Plc's daily activities! Anyone would think it's the same group of people running both organisations!

Looking at companies house website I notice the accountants resigned in November, from my business experience that is always a bad sign suggesting a difference of opinion with the directors. I also note from Facebook that train services will not re start in February but undisclosed date in March. To me its not looking good.

Is there still any possibility of a takeover to get rid of these people? The ideal situation would be for NR to take over the line and extend the EMT services northwards.

Clearly the HST are not upset as I spotted one of their shutters this morning pulling the P way train.I am beginning to realise that most of the content on this thread about Peak Rail is tripe

That PR post on Faceache dates from 6th January 2017, so I assume refers to year before last year's service.

That depends very much on what you think the route's ideal purpose is. Those who like to see steam trains in Matlock or Rowsley would certainly not think a NR takeover would be ideal.

There could be any number of reasons that the H.S.T. are providing a shunter for the works train - I'll leave that to your imagination!!!!!!

Let's all get to the PRA's AGM next month and hopefully enough awkward questions will be asked!

    Remember this:

    1) The PLC's board could easily approach the Action Group and co-opt on to the board a number of the Action Group members.
    2) Abolish the position of Managing Director/s on the board.
    3) Change policy to allow no member of the PLC board to serve on either the PRA or D&WVRT (initials may be wrong!).
    4) Open disclosure to shareholders and PRA members to all past, present and future legal disputes, financial position of the operation.
    5) End to personal defamation, vindictive attacks on members and shareholders who's view is different to "the board's".

It is within the current PLC boards power to action the above points - it will be the easiest, least costly way to save the Peak Rail operation, rebuild trust in the management for the WORKING MEMBERS who make the railway work and hopefully bring back some of those who have left.

Now I'll step off my soap box......

Yes the HST were running the PR maintenance train today.
    Ashover NG members on site.
Work being done by volunteers elsewhere on site.
    All facts real facts.

I'll leave that to your imagination .

    Peace

I expect that the situation here is much like the WSR shenanigans; most of the people posting things actually want the PR to be a successful, happy railway. Hard to argue with that goal; the disagreements are only (sic ;-) over how.

I would have thought that would be easy to achieve with two actions. Doing those two actions might be somewhat difficult to achieve however. :-(

Yes the years of financial woes, Directors' intransigence, invisible business plan, limited visitor attractions, propping up of the legal profession, failure to communicate with shareholders and members...it's all tripe!

The HST takes a diplomatic approach to its relationship with PR and rarely comments in public. I expect that PR has persuaded the HST to make a loco available, otherwise it could have meant taking up the Briddons' long standing offer to use theirs, which would have stuck in the throat of at least one of the Joint MDs!

No one that I know wants PR to fail, and the staff and volunteers do a sterling job, but some supporters desperately want a fresh approach from a collaborative and inspiring management team that doesn't keep brassing people off...

I am more interested in seeing and riding on trains on the old Midland line that actually provide a useful service than watching old shunters and boring industrial locos tootle up and down a short stretch of line very slowly crewed by people wearing plastic hats. PR as it stands is a failed and extremely amateurish and shoddy undertaking as far as i am concerned and has no chance of getting any further or actually preserving or restoring anything other than the turntable which is the railways only accomplishment. If i wanted a scenic train ride i would catch the train south to Derby in preference to an even slower featureless run to Rowsley shed.

Bit harsh but sadly true. Most of those who held true to the original vision have long since moved on.

I have checked with others in PRAG and it would seem your e-mail hasn't been received. If you would care to repeat it to support(at)peakrailaction.co.uk I'll ensure it's looked out for.

I have read PRAG report and have an idea, how about Rowsley becomes "The National Museum of Industrial and Shunting Locomotives"
