Definitely recommend Launceston (pronounced Lanson!) Steam Rly - very friendly people + superb bookshop + interesting museum of steam machinery + handy station buffet with good views of the steam activity. Launceston is a superb little country town with a castle and old church. And the road between Launceston and Liskeard (for Looe steam on 19th and 26th September) has good views of Bodmin Moor!

I love the moving pictures, she has a loverly sound! Looks much more authentic in Cornwall for some reason, the greener is different to Wales and it looks much better :D

More video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PYYxOk9Fp6w and a few more photos at the previously posted link.

There should be a very historic photo of Lyd online this evening or tomorrow but I'm not saying what yet....

...or not 'cause the plan changed several times during the day.

Lyd however is now on her low loader and will leave Launceston tomorrow morning, e.t.a. at Barnstaple for display approx midday if all goes well.

Lyd on the L&B, at Woody Bay, was featured on local news this evening (BBC). She looked a brave sight. I'll take my photos in black and white, and pretend they were taken 75 years ago!

Don't forget that, although there were a lot of photographers at the L&B today, a number of them will not have got home yet, and those that have made it home are probably putting their feet up and reflecting on a very satisfying day rather than frantically uploading photos to the web....

However, here's one just to whet your appetite:

More to come when I get around to it.

    Some more photos here http://tir-ltd.co.uk/galleries/lyd-at-woody-bay/

I would just like to say what an absolute priveledge it was to be at Woody Bay on Sunday, not only perfect weather but also a super show. I could only attend as a 'gricer' and was unable to make any contribution to the event which was real credit to all concerned, especially the L&B volunteers who were working so hard to do all the tedious tasks behind the scenes. It did give me the opportunity to really enjoy the place and spend time with my kids.
A special thanks to Paul and James for providing the star of the show - what a stunner!

Many thanks for a great day out

  20. A Couple of Thoughts on Last Train and the Gala
    ----------------------------------------------------------

Future L&B Historians might well be looking back at this last weekend as the time the L&B matured into a railway really going somewhere!

So, are we doing it right?? - see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oyulmyICuHw for examples!
