Some great stuff there Mick, look forward to seeing more of your work, particularly if you have anything taken at Millom of the haematite mine and the little avonside that used to work there!

Some photos of B2842's first movements under its own steam in preservation at Foxfield today. Meanwhile, Duebs continues to progress

The owners found a old can at the back of Rowsley Shed...

Joking apart its 45 years since it last steamed.

Just one that crossed my mind the other day... Does anyone know whether Hawthorn Leslie 0-6-0ST Isabel has moved on from Oswestry yet and if so where? She was advertised for sale a few months back and the Cambrian Trust website said she was due to leave there in Spring.

Just intrigued as she is one of the many locomotives which Tanfield volunteers tried to get hold of in the dim and distand past and just missed out, fortunately we do have her classmate Stagshaw.

Last steamed 1965 at Croyden B power station. To Mid Hants as first loco 1973 - bit small for the alps I guess. One or two other moves before moving to the Avon Valle, again more time in store before ending up as a sign post for the railway.

It has been at Foxfield for 5 years, major restoration by the owners, the Cival family. Work has included new firebox, outer wrapper plates, tubes, new axle box bearings & the replacement of many missing parts that included die blocks and links.

Nice job, now in the final stages. All being well see will be one of our gala stars.

Restoration took place in the yard - she was shy and likes to hide under sheets ( and who can blame her when it gets cold and wet ).

Fired Twizell on her first solo passenger run yesterday. Took four times four wheelers plus the NER clerestory on loan from Beamish up the bank without breaking into a sweat. I've always wondered why an engine built in 1891 was kept in traffic into the '70s over more modern machines like Austerity's... now I know! She steams like nothing on earth! A bit hot to work on and has a hunger and a thirst but I reckon once you get into a routine she'll knock spots of almost anything. What a machine.

Sure 12in Coch will post his pics soon.

First time anyone's ever called him that!

Look forward to seeing Twizell at the gala, and hopefully over the Summer too!

I called in at the Ribble Steam Railway yesterday, and I'd like to thank a very friendly bunch of guys for showing me round. The workshop there is awesome; six steam locos being worked on simultaneously under a 25 ton overhead crane, I think there will be some interesting new arrivals from that source before long. I'd recommend a visit to anyone who has not been.

The reason for my visit was to discuss the pattern for an Austerity chimney, which is now at a foundry for a quotation. If anyone has a serious enquiry please contact Russell, who has posted earlier, (and who has done nearly all of the work in connection with this) or me.

    Regards,

    Tim
