I'm on this. I was hoping for the freshly overhauled 70000 but I'll settle for 46100. When I originally booked the estimated timings had an arrival back into Kidderminster at 21:00. Confirmed timings are actually 2 hours later, so it'll be a longer day than I expected. Luckily there are service trains from Kidderminster back to Worcester at 23:24 and 23:42.

We're on it as well but from and to Bridgnorth so we'll take our 'night clothes'! Would have liked 70000 but like you, 46100 will do nicely.

Unless it is a repeat itinerary like a CME or a DCE I would always work on 2300 as a likely final destination arrival time, rather than anything on a tour company website.

46100 and ECS just arrived at Kidderminster, with accompanying Class 47. Good view at the moment on the webcam.

I think they might be looking to bringing the 47 on to the front.

47 has failed. No problem with 46100. Replacement diesel will join at Barrow Hill.

Now at Walsall, dead 47 on the back . I just asked the guy why they never include their generator car on these trips and he said it's because they don't want the extra weight. A diesel can take its own weight, a generator coach can't. Anyway new Class 47 is on its way to Barrow Hill.

47/614 and 47/805 en route to Barrow Hill to replace the failed 47. One for the tour and the other to take 47/501 back to Crewe.

That's an interesting comment about weight and the generator car. I'm really pleased that DBC is not twitchy about taking a generator car rather than a diesel with the British Pullman. I know we are comparing a Class 8 with a Class 7 but I wouldn't have thought that the load was prohibitive given the shorter LSL trains.

Good job the 47 clonked out after Old Hill. With the late running I was able to get down to Water Orton where the Scot was in full voice as it blasted its way onto the busy Birmingham to Derby mainline.

Presumably the diesel is needed for the shunt of the stock at York

York seems a bit of an anathema. I have been on tours that needed a diesel to get to Holgate sidings and others where the stock has been propelled back by the steam loco. I have no idea what the "rules" are there and if things have changed in the past few years.
Maybe one of the regular tour guards on the forum knows the answer.
