Well that encapsulated everything that’s perfect about a railtour; great scenery, rare track, steep gradients, a loco in sparkling and incredibly loud form, and brilliant company. Another masterpiece pulled off by RTC and WCRC, absolutely superb! :)

One of those tours that did precisely what was expected, and delivered a fair bit more. Despite my initial cynicism, a path was found for the planned route which included some new track for my records; despite forecast, the weather was generally much better than expected; despite expectation, there was no diesel, and in the face of sod's law, Standard was at the front. Noise from 45699 was superb. The scenery on the Standedge route is much better when seen from a Mk1, so I only hope it is done again.

I cannot really add to those two posts, other than thank RTC and West Coast for a very enjoyable day, and well worth the time and expense to travel up from the South East with 2 nights in a hotel.

    20200229_170359.jpg Sowerby Bridge waterstop.
With the increased frequency of trains at the usual Brighouse and need to trail hoses across the eastbound running line at Hebden Bridge, will this become the place of choice for westbound steam?

I'd like to thank everyone for sharing their pictures, videos and descriptions of this trip, and the other two in the northern hills yesterday. Absolutely superb - cheered me up whilst stuck in bed with some ailment.
Even more thanks to those who made such a day possible: organizers, crews, volunteers and the paying passengers
