The Dunning-Kruger effect has some relevance.

You have to admire his tenancity, though.

They are politicians in a local fashion. However politicians often look to take advantage when it suits them. Failure of the PLC might be seen to their advantage - especially raising support for their cause.

Whenever poor misguided Mr. De Mendoza dares to express an opinion via public media.

Subscribers to National Preservation can be sure to later read an unpleasant slagging from the Yorkshire person.

Yes! Mr. De Mendoza never gives up. But there is no need for the repeatedly posted insults towards Mr. De Mendoza that flow from the keyboard of the Yorkshire refugee.

How much I fondly remember, in times past, the pleasure of reading through National Preservation during an era when the MRLG people quietly went about their hotel keeping and the Yorkshire person was banned from posting on National Preservation.

Back in 2016 I started uploading all the Locomotive Crew data for the FR / WHR from the filing cabinet to an online cloud based solution. It took the best part of six months to do (sort of spare time project) and saw the best part of 7000 documents uploaded for the 135 locomotive crew that are present. For each practical exam there is the form filling that goes in to it, then two certificates - one to say it has taken place, the other being their certificate of competence. Then that goes on to a master sheet which automatically starts highlighting when people are coming to exam time.

So splitting the departments in terms of inspectors isn't a bad idea. Of course, there is no reason why one department cannot highlight concerns to the other.

In these days of populism and unexpected outcomes it would be extremely complacent to disregard the activities of that group particularly if the plc is currently weak and also bearing in mind the underlying ownership of the route itself. Many people laughed at Boris Johnson and Michael Gove - but they are not laughing now. In these times what was yesterday's preposterous nonsense can become today's new reality.
The day the Rail Link Group changes its slogan from "Minehead needs trains TO Taunton" to "Minehead needs trains FROM Taunton" they will need to be taken very seriously.

Local newspapers are on their last legs. They've pretty much given up on employing reporters and seeking out news. They rely on people like Mr Mendoza supplying them with click-bait for free.

But the Rail Link group are not really politicians, just a tiny pressure group with no money (they hope other people will spend a lot of money if they shout loudly enough), a website, and a journalist’s phone number.

Great railway visit and ride in 2010; spent ages watching 9351 on Minehead turntable.

Am surprised that no mention of the article in Heritage Railways on here.
The PLC seemed to pull no punches.
    Very honest.
Talk about washing your dirty laundry in public.
It is a line in the sand that a lot of heritage lines need to be aware of.
    The world is changing.

The Heritage Railway article is available to read on the website.

It certainly explains the situation with 4110 very clearly - the Directors never mind the company would have been in the Doo-Doo unless they did what they did

But basically it has been a very close run thing
