Nice that the Mirror reported it, even if they did say the aircraft flew over the "steam train" they were named after... Other way round, the steam locomotive is newer than the aircraft!

Very annoying. The guy videoing it on his phone had a very "colourful" commentary that he wasn't expecting.

Gates were open to the fields off Grange Road. Cracking view but sadly no photo to show for it.

Another example of the loco getting publicity for the steam movement, through the trust's good relations with the media, and being savvy enough to place her in the flight path.

Still no news on a test run, or any sign of a move from Wensleydale so I guess :Morewaitingisrequired:

I'm not booking for The Auld Reekie, just as worrying is that there is no news about Alycidon (bogies).
Hell, Tornado and Alycidon, from Wakefield, 08:00 start.............it's made to measure for me and herself.............but I daren't book, she wasn't best pleased about being let down originally, a repeat performance and my life will be in danger.:(

I feel the same way. I wish them all the best, but I need to see Tornado deliver a couple of successful railtours before I book again.

Alycidon should be at Nemesis Rail for bogie exchange.

I know the feeling. Am still waiting to do the Ynys Mon from last year, which was postponed twice and which is still paid for. Had the 9th Feb North Briton cancelled, full refund received, and still awaiting a new date for it.

Being a railtourer is hard sometimes. :(

We don't do many trips but after the CME with Les, #18, and Mayflower, she's got a bit excited. "Victor my love, let's spend the money before the kids can get hold of it":Meh:

Eating birthday cake whilst travelling on a snowy S & C with wisps of steam passing the window must have been an enjoyable worthwhile money spend.:);)

Tornado......Still sitting on the discount offer from last April but staying well away from Tornado until the loco proves itself on a few trips. That said, the loco has to get to Edinburgh somehow for the Aberdeen trip about which nothing has been said either. Just two problems there, not counting whether Tornado is available, and that is getting the turntable and shunt arrangements sorted out at Aberdeen plus confirmation of the route.

UK Railtours are saying about The Auld Reekie 'they don't know' (i've asked), There no info. on the DPS site re Alycidon and it's 10 days before the trip.
    I'm giving the booking a miss............reluctantly.

Interesting. I just rang them and the helpful person told me they are posting the tickets tomorrow, Tornado is fit, Tornado's main line certification is sorted, Alycidon is fit, NR is working on the final details of the timings and it is 'looking good'. It sounds almost too good to be true, but having booked and being local I shall just wait and see, they have certainly not written it off at this point.

Given there are spare seats in Standard and First Class Dining maybe you could take a last minute decision.

Just anther confirmation of the present standard of non-factual reporting. News gathered in public bars or from Farcebook most probably.
