There was no visible indication a bogie is present. The doors on the exterior of the building are completely rotten as is the rest of that side. On the interior of the building there are no doors or windows present from memory.

I'm not saying you shouldn't try, just pointing out that the pickings are very thin.

It looks like it too was suffering from the sea air.

Depends what you mean by 'pipe'. The steel pipe is just threaded BSP & fittings (apart from the casting over which the rubber hose fits) & available from many stockists.

The rubber hoses are not company-specific. At Didcot we get ours from: Rediweld Cerambond, 6/7 Westfield Industrial Estate, Horndean, Hampshire PO8 9JX Tel 023 9259 3979

As to gauges, Ebay is always worth a look: http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_o...cuum+gauge.TRS0&_nkw=vacuum+gauge&_sacat=1444
There's a BR(M) one on there for £45 & an unbranded example for £25, but expect to pay more for an LMS-branded one as & when one turns up.

Once you've got a gauge, it'll need to be calibrated. These guys offer that service:— http://www.pressuregauge.co.uk/product-range/traditional-brass-guages/ They'll sell you a brand new lookalike too.

If you're missing the cast bronze hose clamp & the cast aluminium hose connector (and rubber seal), try Anderson C&W - also good for cylinder bits & pieces - no website AFAIK, so 07729 542279.

The Pullmans from Seaburn are being moved this weekend (11/12th March). The two 12-wheelers went on Saturday and the remaining 8-wheeler is going today (Sunday). There are some photos on this Facebook group which I think is publicly accessible - it's a protest group opposed to the council's development of the area which mostly involves bulldozing what's there and building flats.

I've lived in the area all the time they've been here and to echo some previous comments yes, they have been neglected and considerably hacked about and the woodwork on the sea side looks pretty poor - but I guess nothing's impossible these days if you have the money and the will. It's disappointing if they're going to just be part of another tacky restaurant development (as this one most certainly was) rather than being restored to service.

What annoys me is the report that has a local councillor saying that there was no interest from the North East in these coaches. There was - from the NYMR, and it was one with a cash offer. The council stands to make millions from the rededevelopment of the site but still wanted every last penny it could get from the coaches.

Given the shenanigans going on around this development and the council's involvement, that's very unfortunate but not remotely surprising :-(

Post 391 suggests they're gone to a restaurant development around Folkestone.

I have some sympathy: the parlous state of council finances, capped council tax, more austerity to come and calls for more social care expenditure to take the pressure off the NHS.

I understand from a recently circulated email that Coalport Station, complete with Mk1s 25778 & 26014, is for sale as a complete business by private treaty.

Probably best to contact them via their website:-

http://www.coalportstation.com/contact-us There is a phone number there, ask for Steve Rawlings.

NOTE ; The owner has said "Please; no turning up on the doorstep unannounced and also I cannot entertain sightseers, only serious and genuine prospectives."

Perhaps it was the overall bid that was accepted not just money? I see the F.H.C have put them straight into Barrow Hill for Refurbishment - also the fact that these Pullmans are S.R stock and will be effectively "going home"

That still isn't a reason for denying the existence of a bid from the north east.

But I hope they are protected form the salt air so in a few years they are scrapped due to winter seas damaging them, when they could have gone to another place where they would have been looked after.

I agree Sawdust, however we do not know the exact circumstances of the bids.
