60009 Union of South Africa was up in the air in the sunshine with the help of a couple of cranes outside Crewe Heritage an hour ago when I passed. Boiler and frames.

It certainly looks that way it's been languishing in a siding just north of Bank Quay for the last 36 hours

Reported elsewhere that loco failed with "hot box" and now being returned to Crewe by road for examination / repair.

Real pedants object to a class 153 being called a train.

Does anyone know why the Yorkshireman with 60009 on the 4th July has been cancelled?

Is the SRPS Fife Circle on the 5th doubtful too? I'm looking forward to a run over the Forth bridge..

The SRPS Fife Cricle will now be a DB operation using 60163 Tornado. Routes remain the same.

60009 had a test run to Sandbach today - via the Independent lines!

I recall in the early days of the Northern Belle they ran some trains that way but seems amazing that anyone still had the paperwork - or was prepared to use it
