Colour Rail have a pre war colour photo of an A4 in green. Amazing image. Also reproduced in The Big Four in Colour by David Jenkinson.
Would be very interesting to see on a preserved A4...

The latest issue of Steam Railway has the story of 60532 being sold with quotes from Hosking and Richard Corser who describes the possibility of an A1, A2, A3 and A4 in steam as a mouth watering prospect buts there's no timescale for its return.

Ah, Katy Hill...... That picture brings back some memories. I used to watch BP when she was on it but I can't remember any of the things that were on there.

There was a special episode of BP which was done from a charter train hauled by 60532 in the 1990's. I have it on vhs some where. All I can remember was that 60532 had a very large headboard which covered the whole of the smokebox front and it looked ridiculous

Blimey that was around my era of Blue Peter as a kid though I too remember Katy Hill (probably because she used to share my Cousins name). I don't remember that episode but remember (for some reason) an episode which had a viewer send a picture of themselves next to loco.

Bingo! That's the one. I had forgotten about that appalling singing section
Some great shots of 60532 though despite that headboard!

Someone who works at Didcot has told me this evening that 60532 will be moving there early next year.

Perhaps there isn't room just yet with 5029 now set to go there? It will certainly be getting packed up there. I've lost track of how many loco's are in the works or are heading there soon: 34046, 71000, 44422 are being overhauled already, 7027, 5224 & 5553 are waiting for overhauls, 4464 will be going for overhaul and 5029 will be heading there for repairs to her boiler. I don't know what else is there.

Boliers of 73082 and 34059, although the former is due to be completed early in the new year.

Intresting, guessing that its just static display, not being overhauled there?

As for the two highlighted loco's......... (and sorry fro thread drift - well at least it not as bad as Katy Hill!) with regard to 5029. the runours I heard before the MHR appear to be true....... so I fully expected her to be dragged to Southall along with the Std 5, so was quite surprised to hear she was going LE to Bristol!

As for 4464, we shall soon see if I was told earlier this year rings true.........

As far as the subject of this thread is concerned, I don't care where is overhauled, just as long as she is - properly, and back on the mainline! :)

Nothing is being done on 71000 at the present time.
7027, 5224 & 5553 are nothing to do with LNWR. They are owned by Waterman.

I was shown around the new Crewe works site (long with others from the HRA) a couple of weeks ago and I was told the plan for 60532 was for it to go into the works as soon as it was up and running. There's plenty of room inside the building for it and everything else that's been mentioned above. Eight roads, most of which will hold four locos; plus plenty of outside siding space.
    Minds could easily change, though.
