Had the new issue of The Railway Magazine arrive in the post today with a free Calendar which contains adverts for both the Spring and Autumn Steam Galas on the MHR. The advert for the Spring Gala has the wrong dates 20th - 22nd February............. Doh! Hope too many people don't rely just on the dates on the Calendar................

Sounds about right, Lee can book his time off tomorrow, so now can we get back to wondering what loco's are going to be announced soon.......... could be interesting given hoe many loco's will either be winterized or under maintenance....

Hopefully we will find out soon whose attending. We are sending Chellie to ELR so I am hoping we might get the Jinty in reply, that would make a great shuttle ;)

Jinty's ticket ends at the end of the year. From what I understand the loco's last day of operation was at the recent LMS weekend with the crab and Aspinall.

Wonder if that would see the following year's event caped, as per the diesel gala?

Wouldn't mind seeing 30847 or 31638 from the Bluebell or 30541 if it's finished before the gala from the Bluebell.

Not in keeping with the LMS theme the forum seems to have in mind, but since a couple of MHR-based locos have been to the CVR in recent years I would love to see 69621 make the return visit before she runs out of ticket.

    So would I........... or a B12....... or both......... :)

Though from what I can gather from the fallout of SSS IV, given its tinker time with loco's, who the hell knows what will turn up - a big un would be good viz a viz whatever the weather will bring........

847, 1638 and 30541 will be required for the Half term services so very unlikely to be available. Why don't you come to the Bluebell to see them?

    SPRING GALA LINE-UP ANNOUNCED

We are thrilled to reveal that the guest locomotives for our upcoming Spring Gala (13 – 15 February) will be LNER A4 Pacific No. 4464 'Bittern' and Britannia Class No.70000 ‘Britannia’.

The Gala will be an exciting event that will not only see ‘Britannia’ return to steam after her time spent at Ropley but it will also see the welcome return of ‘Bittern’ back to MHR rails.

Alongside these two great engines will be our popular home fleet: Schools Class No. 925 ‘Cheltenham’, Lord Nelson Class No. 850 ‘Lord Nelson’, West Country Class No. 34007 'Wadebridge', BR Standard Class 9F No. 92212 and Stanier Black 5 No.45379.

For further information and to book tickets to the first event of our running season, visit the Spring Gala webpage. http://www.watercressline.co.uk/product…/…/spring-steam-gala

NB. We are aware there have been adverts published with incorrect dates. The Gala will be 13 - 15 Feb, we apologise for any confusion caused.

Considering its the MHR home fleet + 2 its still an epic line up..... I suppose the only real risk is that 70000 isn't fixed in time (However I cant imagine it would have been announced if in any doubt).

As ever I will look forward to it, but when was the last gala that didn't rely on guests from Icons of Steam?

I guess Britannia is a result of not being available for Autumn this year and probably not many engines about with lots of other things in Feb as already mentioned here.
