I get the feeling if they don't get a good guest visitor the gala could bomb

Even if they don't manage to get a visitor they will still have a pretty impressive 7 loco line-up with the return of 41312 and 76017. Plus 70000 might return for this event as she is required to do some running in on the line before she returns to the ML. I just hope they don't find any more problems with the other sets of driving wheels.

Why do they need to move the dates anyway? Surely the MHR and Llangollen aren't exactly in direct competition?

Maybe more a case a desired loco can't be in two places at once ?.

Maybe, although not sure which. To nick the attendee list from the relevant thread...

    7822
    5199
    3802
    80072
    3205
    1450
    92212
    34092

The only one I could see as being a likely visitor is 34092, and is that really such a one-off deal to justify the shift?

It's not exactly a Llangollen gala, it's SSS gala for Betton Grange, in the past it has had a pretty formidable gathering of locomotives, liveries and line side opportunities as well as the "side events" making it a "must go must not miss" gala. though my personal opinion Jury is still out on SSS2015 however, have to see what else is in store as I've not felt the "wow" factor yet in the line up... but it still early doors.

However given the crowd draw the past event has attracted it'd be a brave man with a killer line up who'd chose to go against them and a bit mean spirited to go against a group who's major bi-annual event is such a high profile fundraiser for them in our small little universe. It's good PR that MHR moved the date, even if finding a new one is a bit of a challenge.

With Wadebridge under repair and 2 locos due to return to steam, perhaps the Midhants did not want to have a Gala, while the 9F was away at SSS4, in case one of them is not ready in time for the Gala?

Could there be another change afoot? The Spring Gala has now vanished from the MHR events page for next year..................

    On a Sunday!

Looking on the MHR Facebook page there seems to be a few negative comments about the change of date. The main front page of the web site is still saying 13th to 15th Feb. I don't see the point in booking the new dates off work until I'm sure these dates wouldn't change again.

With the gala being moved from March to mid February I can't see 76017 and 41312 being ready in time.

I do wonder if they might have to change the date back? Some of the older chaps might not use the internet and have to rely on the members magazine which I assume had the date... havent recieved the latest one yet myself

The latest magazine isn't ready yet, we deliver them in our area and they've said we should get the call to pick them up in the next week or two.

With any luck we should receive a timetable brochure with the next issue of MHR News.
