For one weekend only come and experience something different as all services are operated by a pair of Tank Engines* -: Resident TKh no. 2944 “Hotspur” and long-term guest Austerity no. 3694 “Whiston”. Take in the sights and sounds as this pair join forces to power their way to the old Ipstones Station, climbing one of the steepest gradients in the country on a heritage railway.

The Churnet Valley Railway takes you on a journey back to the 1950s and 1960s, allowing you to take a break from busy urban life and hop on board a steam train where you ride in a heritage carriage behind one of our beautifully restored locomotives. Pass through delightful countryside with riverside views and The Cauldon Canal, before continuing to Ipstones leaving the quiet and sedate Churnet Valley behind to burst out onto the Staffordshire Moorlands with its spectacular views as far as the eye can see
