A starter for this one. Lakenheath around 10 down heading from Norwich to York. It was a bit cold out there (-5.5 according to the car)

Great shots, chaps. Steam in cold weather produces some lovely effects.

Back on time approaching Donny, only to be held outside for a few minutes. Crossed over on to up slow, passed through platform 3 with the regulator open and whistle blowing. A nice surprise for the waiting commuters! Stopped another 3 times before Loversall Carr Junc to allow other services to overtake. Probably around 15 minutes down still.

Those are the conditions when a driver earns his corn, the concentration required in that poor visibility must be a real strain.

Especially when driving through a centre like Donny at 75

Absolutely, but an awful lot easier nowadays with TPWS, AWS and colour light signals than in the past with oil lit signals (and probably more of them to add to the potential for confusion) and a lot thicker fogs than we get these days.
