WSR Diesel Gala - Friday 9th- Sunday 11th June 2017

Discussion in 'Galas and Events' started by Captain Fantastic, Sep 18, 2016.

Nick, check out the official page:

    http://www.west-somerset-railway.co.uk/events/detail/diesel-gala-and-rail-ale-trail

The small charge refers to regular entry fees to WSR based museums and model railways and is, I think, unrelated to anything specific to this event.

Interestingly, the official page specifies a limit to the number of beer tokens available for advance purchase. Whether 'on the day' purchases are limited is not specified.

The Quantock Belle breakfast and luncheon service will operate throughout the event.

  1. WSR plc have now confirmed that there is in fact no additional charge for entry to Rail Ale Trail sites. Half-pint beer tokens will be available on the day, priced £1.50 each. Up to four tokens may be purchased in advance online for a discounted price of £1.25 each. Details here:

Well here we all are then, less than three months to go to the gala and apart from some random beer gen the wall of silence on this gala is deafening, they seam to just be obsessing over the flying money pit and the diesels can go with the also-rans yet again not surprising just utterly predictable

    News item is on www.wsr.org.uk
It also says they are still looking for another visitor!
That will be great if they manage to get something else.

Let's just hope the other visitor is as inspired as the Mc Rat and I have a very welcome feeling of optomisim for the gala

But please please please organisers note that people go to diesel galas for the loco's NOT the theme (whatever that's supposed to mean) so just run a good choice of loco's and people will come

If GBRf do the loco moves, perhaps they could be persuaded - as in 2012! A pair would be needed to cope with the gradients :D. But not 66757!

Class 73s dont exactly bring in the crowds as demonstrated at the Bluebell this weekend.

Good news for all those going to the diesel gala, went to Minehead today to see D2271 up by the shop with all the nose panels refitted and painted ex works Green so I assume the engine has been refitted to the loco so there's a good chance it might do something at the gala
For the second visitor could mybee 40013 be called upon??

D213 would be a great choice for a future gala, but best not this one as all the 40 followers will be on the CFPS railtour

The announcement states that they will be moved by GBRf. Perhaps the loco that brings them can stay on for the gala? (As long as it's not 66757!)
