This is sounding pretty awesome... see http://www.wsr.org.uk/news.htm#n1407

Got a letter from the railway this morning for the renewel of my lineside pass. It confirms this line up but also details 9466 is attending.

With these guest locos appearing plus the added atraction of seeing 3850 & 9466 running in black and the possibility of Odeny and Ravy being complete I simply can't wait!

    70000, 30777, 7812, 2807, 6430, Autocoach 167, 6024?
    88, 4160, 5553, 9351,
    6960?

Very tempting indeed, not been WSR in 2010 so overdue a visit.

Looking good... One minor inaccuracy, the bumpf on the WSR.org site states that it will be the first ever appearance of 6201 on a Heritage Railway; I went to the Severn Valley on Saturday 14 June 2008, around the time when 6024 hauled the Royal Train (carrying Prince Charles) between Kidderminster and Bridgnorth. As she was going through a rough patch in reliability at the time, 6201 was also brought in to deputise in case of failure (I also think there was some work that needed to be done, too). For one, maybe two weekends, both locomotives were rostered on service trains to form an impromptu '8P' mini-gala. However, there might be some merit in saying that it will be the first time that 6201 has attended ANY bona-fide gala on a heritage railway...

I think Lizzie has been to at least two SVR Galas.

Where does it say that 3850 will be back from the GCR... It may well still be in the Midlands. Also not sure the 94 is confirmed as it's still at SDR having new tanks.

  6. Ah. Sorry if the report is inaccurate. I'll check back with the Railway from where the bulk of the text came earlier today...

6201 definitely ran at the SVR Gala Sept 2002. I think 6233 was there also.

6201 princess elizabeth also appeared in many east lancashire railway galas, so it is not a first but very great news all the same.

Dinmore manor group reported that they expected 3850 to return to the wsr in time for the spring gala in a repair update. Not sure whats going on with 94 but my letter states it's confirmed... So I have my fingers crossed

    No they didn't.

If you look on the DMLltd website you will see that it states 3850 will remain at the GCR from December until the end of March which would mean it is unlikely to attend the gala.

I stand corrected and apologies for the incorrect info on this... Just read the same thing from Mr Mike Solloway of Dinmore Manor group confirming that she wont be back until after the gala. I will look forward to seeing her in the new livery later in the year :)

I see according to Steam Dreams 70000 is down for a trip to Bath and Bristol on the 27th March which is the last day of the gala. Looking good, will certainly pop down for a couple of days.

If include Bulmers for 35028 then every currently operational ex BR steam loco has worked passenger trains on a preserved railway.
For many years there were three that had worked on the mainline only, but then 246 and 60019 returned to action, leaving only a loco withdrawn from service in 1988.

Not only that it was a resident and worked service trains at the ELR and it did work on service trains in 2008 at the SVR and also appeared at the 2002 & 2006 Autumn steam galas. However this is a minor detail the line up looks very good if you ask me! .

I don't think 4965 has either. It was due to appear at the SVR Autumn Gala in 2007 along with 4936 and 4953, but was failed at the last minute.
