Looking absolutely superb! It's a great choice of livery, but it's gonna need something black (with one more driving axle) to go with it! How long has it been since Ravenglass had enough "home fleet" steam locos to get through the season without worrying whether there was enough motive power?

    Roll on 2018! :)

She is lovely and its going to be great to see the RER home fleet next year, hopefully they can have a run of great fortune with the loco fleet.

Does anyone know if Whillan Beck will have smoke deflectors added back on

No idea, I have a very vague recollection of reading somewhere that they were fitted to make her look like a Duchess, but please don't quote me on that it may be my imagination.

Obviously if they are needed they should be used, but entirely personally I think she looks a lot better without the blinkers.

To my mind, the little loco looks more, well ....... "Ratty" without deflectors, if that make any sort of sense.

Any idea who's being roped in to do "the naming thing", come the day?

She looks great as is - I think I may have to make the long trek to Lakeland next year - it has been far too long since I was last there!

Will the fantastic gala that was going to happen at the end of October, now take place in 2018?

Photography of test runs show smoke deflectors have been refitted.
