Do we (outsiders) need to know?

With talk of reform, splinter groups and EGMs, I for one as a shareholder feel those in-the-know do know a lot more than I do!

The thread is a kludge of many interests none of which dovetail into WSRA ops. ;) You have stories about a possible crisis for the PLC, the aftermath of the WSRA wars, the history of ancient Rome, hints of the Wars of the Roses. No wonder an earlier poster referred to it as 'entertainment'. :D

Sim Harris has clearly spent quite some time looking into the feasibility of extending National Rail services to Minehead, but has had to base all of his well reasoned assumptions on the laying of a new track from Norton Fitzwarren to the disused bay at Taunton.

I'm pretty sure that a few thousand posts back in this thread, the chances of this happening were rated somewhere between when hell freezes over and when peace breaks out in the WSR family (sorry, couldn't resist :)), for reasons including the current use of the trackbed as a cable route and the slewing of the main lines towards the up side to improve alignment and therefore increase speeds.

Based on that fact alone, and glossing over every other issue he raises (and plenty he doesn't) it is surely enough evidence for even the keenest supporter of the scheme to realise it's futliliy.

Somewhat disappointed that ‘WSR Then and Now’ and ‘Stogumber lamp post news’ didn’t get a mention...

Too positive to be memorable, I expect.

I didn't intend to review over 9500 posts and that is just this thread, however, I did spot the 'heritage telephones' and a very busy (then) station in contrast to present day deserted one. As far as lamp posts are concerned having painted a few similar ones, more than once, they did not excite me. :D

On the ‘viability of extending to Taunton’ WSR thread, I have put so me numbers on these assumptions.

Pleased to have any comments on them there.

Need to know; no. However, the discussion is going on on a public forum and it is rather impolite to do this whilst excluding those not in the know. Nat Pres is not intended for private discussion in public.

Can’t say fairer than that, can I?

The only things that are known are those things which have been published. Everything else is rumour, speculation or gossip.
I strongly suggest we follow Faols wise words of advice.

Thanks to QB Steward for the links about the possibility of running into Taunton, very interesting and much more worthy of debate IMHO.

Trust Robin to have her own Enigma machine!

As vice chairman (and therefore interim acting chairman) I can say that the directors are acutely aware of the issues we need to deal with and we have already put a number of positive steps in hand.
What is required at this time is a calm and steady approach within a supportive environment. I am alarmed at the talk of EGMs, reform groups and veiled threats which I read on here. These definitely do not help!
We are looking for people to say 'How can we help you' not 'do this or else' or 'please explain'. As our plans develop over the coming days and weeks you will be kept up to date. In the meantime, if you wish to help, please contact me cosec @ wsrail.net.

The WSR plc seem content to let Mr Mendoza continue to publicise his nonsensical claims without any sort of response. Maybe they think that if they ignore him, he'll go away. Unfortunately the media are happy to give him a platform (sic) and the lack of response from the plc just gives credence to his claims.

With enough meccano and cannibalised Xmas lights you should be able to build your own Turing bombe.

I have provided you with a ‘crib’.

As an ethical U-boat Kapitan, I never ANGRIFF without giving the crew of the merchantman time to get into a lifeboat.
