A kind offer, Ken, but the croquet lawn need flattening, not dimpling!

I'm sure we are all grateful for the steps you have taken to improve the safety culture on the WSR, and to wish you well in whatever you choose to give your unique energy to next.

I think we identified that you were WSRA member No.11?

There was nothing whatsoever Machiavellian in my post! I simply asked hat the WSR PLC issue a statement. On the other hand your post was nothing but an inaccurate, and unjustified, attack that you should apologise for.

    Peter, for the record.

Your post 7623 'That is not to say there are not legitimate concerns. However it would be very helpful if the WSR Plc would issue a statement about Ken Davidge' departure from the board"

and post 7685 "Sadly the information I have gathered in confidence from various sources suggests that the picture is not as rosy as you suggest"

    If I have misunderstood I apologise !

As I said not Machiavellian in any way, shape or form. That is the crucial point. Apology accepted. Let us see what is revealed at the Stakeholder’s meeting.

I'm intending to visit the WSR for the first time (other than on a railtour) this Saturday. Is there any way of finding out what locos are likely to be in use?
Had a look on the website, but nothing obvious on there (apart from showing which are steam or diesel).....

If Post 7728 is accurate then there is a shortage of ex GWR locomotives on what is a former GWR branch line.

Resignation of Ken Davidge: a statement by WSR Plc

It is with regret that the WSR PLC has received the resignation of Ken Davidge as a director of the company. Ken has been involved with the railway since the earliest days and has made a significant contribution over the succeeding years in a number of roles. He joined the Board as Safety Audit Director two years ago and has worked tirelessly in the role since. He has been dogged in his determination to guide the railway's safety culture and has made many changes - notably being the establishment of safety reps in each division and the formation of a comprehensive safety log from which the railway can identify and rectify trends in safety issues. He has been central to incident investigation and has gained much knowledge from outside bodies which he has shared with the company.

The Board has recently changed the safety portfolio to create a new Director of Safety which would subsume Ken's existing Safety Audit role. Ken has taken this change of role as a convenient point to retire from the board to enable a new person to take it over. Ken has assured the board that he will assist and advise the new post holder as required.

The Board wish to thank Ken for his work over the past two years as a Board member and look forward to his continuing wider support to the railway.

Chairs for Stogumber Station and news of Somerset Cream Teas

The folks at Stogumber Station have obtained four original GWR office chairs and had them re-upholstered by Thomas Payne of Wiveliscombe.

The Station will be open throughout the forthcoming half-term week serving its famous cream teas.

Sadly for a GWR Branch Line. The WSR - for reasons unknown - continues to pretend that it is the Somerset & Dorset Railway

As ever with the WSR, nothing is ever simple and straightforward and there are many opposing factions.

Serious point, the photographers on Friday 13th generally had a good day (aided by Robin in the box at BL) with 75014 and 53808. I'm sure someone here will be in the know regarding the availability of GWR locos to run over the next few months.
