While WC have been way to optimistic, to put it mildly, these past few weeks maybe there was a grain of truth in the statement they gave to RTC before the GB8 fiasco - that they had a positive meeting with ORR - and at that meeting maybe ORR told them that if they complied with NR's requirements they would be off the hook? I suspect they were also told they could still be looking at a fine though.

Maybe then on to Carnforth, to move the stock up too? Can't see anything in RTT currently to suggest that though.

threelinkdave, you were saying about your "Given that it appears WCRC cant organise the excess consumption of alcoholic beverages in a manufacturing facility dedicated to said beverages, I dont see it happening." 5Z45 reported 10 early at Nunthorpe on the way to the NRM before the treck up tomorrow. Infact here's the link for people to keep an eye on it themselves! 2 early off Nunthorpe now:

Now after reading the pages and pages of waffle on here, written by some people who should clearly hold their heads in shame, it's now time for a new start! Clearly things have been learnt and new processes put into place so let's hope all goes well for Monday and the 08:35 departure from Fort William Junction Yard to Fort William Station.

I agree there's been a degree of waffle written on here, but I don't think anyone should be hanging their heads in shame. What on earth brought you to that conclusion ?

Plain and simply, some of the waffle that's been written and the usual Nat Pres hype from some areas! That is all.....

I probably haven't read every post word for word, but I would suggest not many on here would have gambled on the lifting of WCR's suspension today. The suggestion that some of the more pessimistic, (realistic given what was known at the time) posts prior to today should invoke shame rather escapes me.

It was duly noted by me, as I had heard the same, though, I didn't fancy the being the one to throw it out there, without proof. That was until, the RTT link popped up. and backed the reports up.

If WCRC has satisfied NR sufficiently for operations to be recommenced on a phased basis it is inconceivable that ORR would impose its own prohibition provided that WCRC's undertakings are kept to. The appointment of new senior staff with qualification and reputation must have had the tacit approval of ORR. As other contributors have said in various ways, the company now needs to grope its way back to full operating range and keep its nose very clean.

The light at the end of the tunnel I alluded to earlier now seems to be a great big ray of light and if all goes to plan, we can look forward to "business as usual" at some point in the near future. It is for sure, now a time for a massive sigh of relief because I for one, and I suspect hundreds of others, thought that mainline steam as we have known and loved in recent years was to come to an abrupt end. If everyone plays the game and do what they have committed to, then the future can be bright. Bring on the sulphur! WCR are to be congratulated for meeting NR's demands within the timescales so let's move on, starting with the Jacobite.

No-one on here would care about the abilities contained within the CV, merely the punctuation and grammar.

Precisely. Never mind 'hanging heads in shame'; we'll only know we're fully in the clear once the 15th has passed us by and WCRC are still on the Network by the end of the month.

As would be most on here I'd have thought given the universal, and probably justified condemnation of the rumour mill!

I'm afraid I didn't see it, but given the caution that has been developed on this thread re rumour, perhaps not entirely surprising you didn't get the reaction you might have expected?
