Does anyone know what direction 850 is facing after it's trip to Eastleigh?

A shame that 850 wasn’t smoke box out of Alresford being there is little scope for taking photos at the Alton end of the line these days. When 92212 is back in service again she will also be facing out of Alton. The next possible loco to be facing out of Alresford will be 31806.

Thanks for the info Lee. I'm really quite suprised at that. I know they like to have one loco facing in each direction for the Santa season, at this rate they'll all be facing out of Alton.

There is the normal Alresford and Alton set and a third diagram running as well doing another three round trips as for the loading or stock I can't be sure until we're coupled up to the train!

There's a special timetable in use this weekend: 3 trains, 40 minute interval service.
    Departures from Alresford are 1020, 1106, 1132, 1212, 1252, 1332, 1412, 1452, 1532 (last round trip), 1612.
    Departures from Alton are 1030, 1115, 1155, 1235, 1315, 1355, 1435, 1515 (last round trip), 1555, 1635.

Here is a shot I took today at the cattle crossing between Ropley and Medstead, standing on the right side of the fence, of 5224. Lovely warm and sunny weather today but unfortunately that meant very little exhaust from the locos but all the same a very enjoyable days' photting.

Note: The Class 33 Diesel that was attached to the rear of the train has been Photoshopped out.

Just out of interest, why bother removing it? It's not as though a GWR heavy freight loco with 5 southern region liveried mk1s carrying express passenger headcode is especially authentic anyway...

I suppose someone will now point me to a list of workings of exactly the above happening every hour for a decade, but until that time...

The 33 was used as the Brake due to a fault on 5224, we announced it as a Secret Wepon , Prototype Diesel. more fun that way \:D/

I removed the diesel simply because I didn't want it in the photo and I thought it would look better without the thing at the back of the train. Whether a GWR freight loco ever pulled green Mk1's is debatable, probably they never did, but you never know. In terms of authentic, well you just can't get that everytime, for me 5224 is a new cop so just to phot it pulling carriages and getting a good image of the loco without the diesel on the back was what I was after.

I had a fantastic day there yesterday. Lots of good quality costumes, and fantastic displays. Met a few veterans with interesting stories, and slowly cooked in the sun.

    Anyone else there?

It was a quality day apart from the fact I had my fire ready for the off from Ropley to Medstead with 5224, ready for the guards tip and all of a sudden everyone got off the train as the spitfire flypast was happening so I was sitting there on the mark trying to keep it quiet! We got delayed by about 10 minutes at least due to this, as well as a small problem with bittern which was fixed we were quite down on the timetable leading to 5224 taking bitterns diagram and bittern vice versa.
